Earlier, when Rishab Shetty's 'Kantara' had completed 100 days since its release, the actor-director announced a prequel to the super-hit film.
Putting an end to the speculation surrounding ‘Kantara 2’, Rishab Shetty revealed that the prequel will release next year.
This announcement came after Homabale Films founder Vijay Kiragandur had earlier said that ‘Kantara 2’ will be a prequel to the first part.
'Kantara', which was written and directed by Rishab Shetty, grossed over Rs 400 crore globally. In Karnataka, it emerged as the highest grossing film of all time.
Besides Rishab Shetty, ‘Kantara’ also starred Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Sapthami Gowda, and Pramod Shetty.
Recently, Rishab also attended the Bhoota Kola festival to celebrate the success of ‘Kantara’ along with his family.
‘Kantara’, which translates to mystical forest, followed the story of a local demigod (Bhoota) who trades forest land to the tribe's people with a king in 1870 in exchange for happiness.
Many years later, when the king’s son grows greedy and wants the land back, he dies due to the wrath of Bhoota.
