‘Kalki 2898 AD’ Advance Booking: Will Prabhas, Deepika Padukone And Amitabh Bachchan-Starrer Record Biggest Opening?

Nag Ashwin's upcoming sci-fi epic ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, is expected to take a solid start at the box office. And if the advance booking trend is anything to go by, then the upcoming pan-India film is likely to register the biggest opening for any Indian film in 2024. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has sold 5,62,945 tickets across all languages, for the opening day, grossing an impressive Rs 17.43 crore.

In the Telugu language alone, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has sold 5,06,139 tickets. As per entertainment journalist Himesh Mankad, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has so far sold 29,500 tickets in the Hindi language, across national cinema chains. Now, it remains to be seen whether the upcoming sci-fi flick manages to beat the record of Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor's 'Fighter' to register the biggest opening in the Hindi language in 2024.

When it comes to Indian movies, Mahesh Babu and Sreeleela’s ‘Guntur Kaaram’ currently holds the record for the biggest opening in 2024.

Speaking of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, the film follows Bhairava (Prabhas), a bounty hunter, and SUM-80 (Deepika Padukone), a pregnant woman on the run, as their paths collide.

In the film, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan are also playing key roles, with the latter essaying the main antagonist.

Ahead of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ release, the Telangana government has already approved extra shows and higher ticket prices for the opening week, as per The Indian Express.

Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh revealed that shows as early as 4:30 AM in Hyderabad have reached full occupancy. As per several reports, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is India's most expensive film to date.

Recently, the makers of 'Kalki 2898 AD' unveiled a two-part prelude to the film, titled ‘B&B: Bujji & Bhairava’, featuring Prabhas’ character Bhairava and his futuristic vehicle Bujji, voiced by Keerthy Suresh. The series is currently streaming on Prime Video.

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is slated to be released in cinemas on June 27, 2024.
