Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani-starrer ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is all set to wreak havoc at the box office. The upcoming sci-fi epic is slated to release in cinemas this Thursday. The advance booking for the Nag Ashwin's upcoming directorial is going through the roof, and there is unprecedented buzz surrounding the film. It is safe to say that such buzz has not been seen for any other Indian movie this year. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has already sold 13,69,906 tickets for the opening day, grossing Rs 37.66 crore.
As a result, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has become the first Indian film to sell more than 10 lakh tickets for the opening day. The movie is now expected to finish over Rs 50 crore gross before the first show begins.
As per Sacnilk, the Telugu version is leading the advance booking for the sci-fi epic, followed by the Hindi version. The Hindi version is currently trending better than Prabhas’ previous release ‘Salaar: Part One – Ceasefire’.
‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has already created an all-time record for biggest opening day pre-sales in Hyderabad. The movie has already grossed more than Rs 14 crore gross, which is around Rs 2 crore higher than the second-placed ‘Salaar’, which registered approximately Rs 12 crore gross for the opening day, as reported by Sacnilk.
The trade projections indicate that ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is likely to register a worldwide opening of Rs 180-200 crore on the opening day of its release.
If ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ manages to take an opening of more than Rs 200 crore, then the film will become only the third Indian title to achieve the feat, after ‘Baahubali 2’ and ‘RRR’.
Coming back to ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, the film also stars Rajendra Prasad, Pasupathy, Saswata Chatterjee, Anna Ben and Chemban Vinod Jose.
Recently, the makers of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ unveiled a two-part prelude to the film, titled ‘B&B: Bujji & Bhairava’, featuring Prabhas’ character Bhairava and his futuristic vehicle Bujji, voiced by Keerthy Suresh. The series is currently streaming on Prime Video.
‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is slated to release in cinemas on June 27, 2024.
