Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on Sunday evening after unidentified gunmen opened fire at his car in Mumbai's Juhu area. Hours after the ordeal, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the actor's residence late Sunday night to enquire about his well-being. The first pictures and videos from their meeting have now surfaced on the internet, showing a shirtless Tiger sitting on a sofa alongside Eknath Shinde, sporting multiple dressings on his chest and shoulder, as well as a bandaged arm.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg, the incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Juhu Police Station at around 7:00 pm on Sunday. Tiger Shroff was returning after playing a football match and leaving a football club when unidentified individuals fired five rounds at his vehicle near Pushpa Park.
While Mumbai Police confirmed that Tiger Shroff was safe and did not sustain any gunshot injuries, reports on Monday noted that the actor suffered minor abrasions on his chest, shoulder, and left hand caused by gunpowder and shards of broken glass. He was examined and subsequently discharged. However, two other people were injured in the firing, including the actor's driver. According to sources at Nanavati Hospital, Tiger Shroff's driver was struck by bullets, sustaining a gunshot injury to his left hand that may require surgery. Police have launched an investigation and are currently examining CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
Meanwhile, a social media post has surfaced in which the Lawrence Bishnoi gang purportedly claimed responsibility for the attack, though the police are yet to verify its authenticity. Written in Hindi, the post stated: “We had called him and tried to explain things to him, but he did not understand. So today, we made sure to explain it to him properly.” In the post, Anil Pandit also issued a stark threat regarding Bollywood star Salman Khan, warning that attacks will continue until actors stop working with him: “Anyone in the Mumbai film industry who does not listen to us or works with Salman Khan will be next. Wait and watch.”
Following his meeting with the Shroff family, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde strongly condemned the attack and issued a stern warning against attempts by gangs to spread fear or establish dominance through violence in Mumbai.
“Tiger Shroff's vehicle was targeted. This incident is deeply concerning and condemnable; I condemn it in the strongest possible terms. I have spoken with the Police Commissioner, and I have also spoken with Tiger Shroff. The Mumbai Police Commissioner has formed several teams to track down those who opened fire—they will be apprehended and given a response in their own language. Our current priority is to keep Mumbai and its citizens safe,” Shinde said.
Speaking to reporters about the actor's condition and the city's history of gang violence, Shinde added, “This is a major incident... five rounds were fired, but fortunately, he was safe. His driver sustained injuries, and the incident is condemnable. I met with the actor; he has injuries on his left hand caused by gunpowder and shards of glass. Both he and his mother are quite shaken... I have assured them that the state government stands with them in the face of the open threats being directed at public figures... No form of threat will be tolerated. Such gang wars were quite common in the 90s, but the Mumbai Police put an end to them in 1995... These attempts to intimidate people will not be tolerated, and we will put an end to this hooliganism.”
The shooting has sent shockwaves through the entertainment fraternity. Following the attack, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), led by President Er Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, issued a media release expressing deep anguish and alleging that the government and police have failed to prevent repeated attacks targeting members of the film industry.
"This is not an isolated incident. Shots were fired outside Salman Khan's residence in Bandra. Actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed in an attack at his Bandra home. Shots were fired outside the Juhu home of filmmaker Rohit Shetty. Comedian Kapil Sharma's cafe was attacked repeatedly. Now Tiger Shroff has been fired upon. One after another, people from the film industry are being targeted, and a deliberate atmosphere of fear is being created. The intent is plain: gangsters want to terrorise Bollywood personalities and extort money from them," AICWA said.
Questioning the safety of citizens in the financial capital, the association asked, "Today it is Tiger Shroff. Who is next? When a celebrity is not safe in the heart of Mumbai, how can an ordinary Mumbaikar feel safe?"
The association further criticised the current law-and-order situation, stating, "Despite repeated incidents, the government and the police have failed to stop these attacks and to protect the people of Bollywood. Gangsters have openly claimed responsibility in earlier cases, yet the network continues to operate. Statements are not enough. Bollywood needs real protection. Mumbai's streets are once again being stained with blood, and the situation is reminiscent of the underworld era of the 1990s. The law-and-order situation in the city is a matter of grave concern. Today, it feels as if Bollywood is left to the mercy of God."
