In today’s era of carefully orchestrated algorithmic tracking and meticulously planned promotional campaigns, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan just proved he still plays by his own rules. Without any prior notice, the Bollywood star casually dropped a brand-new track titled ‘Teri Sexy Beauty’ from his upcoming film ‘Maatrubhumi’ at 5 AM on Wednesday. The peppy release marks a major milestone for fans, as Salman steps behind the microphone to return to playback singing after a hiatus of 11 years.

He previously lent his voice to popular chartbusters like ‘Hangover’ from the 2014 blockbuster ‘Kick’ and ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’ from the 2015 action romance ‘Hero’.

Check out the music video here:

Serving as the fifth song from Apoorva Lakhia's military drama ‘Maatrubhumi’, it is easily the film's peppiest number yet, following the patriotic track ‘Jai Hind’ sung by Stebin Ben last month. ‘Teri Sexy Beauty’ features female vocals by Muskaan. The musical credits are a collaborative mix, with Sajid Khan having provided additional vocals alongside composer Himesh Reshammiya.

Visually, the music video is a vibrant treat. It opens with intercuts of Salman entering a recording studio and putting on his headphones before transitioning to an aeroplane hangar. His co-star Chitrangda Singh – playing his wife in their first-ever on-screen pairing – is seen playing the guitar in a stunning red saree. Surrounded by background dancers dressed as air hostesses in red outfits playing the trumpet, Salman brings a playful, romantic touch to the screen. He is also seen shaking a leg with fellow soldiers enjoying a day off inside a bunker before joining Chitrangda on the dance floor.

Taking to Instagram, Salman shared a teaser with a caption full of wordplay about catching an early-morning flight: “Departure time 5:12 am…. Flight on time , 2 pegs down taking off with my sexy beauty… pata nahi kahaan mai land karoon.” In the song itself, he croons the catchy lyrics: “Teri sexy beauty ka fan ban gaya hu man, main do peg pee ke aeroplane ban gaya hu”.

The YouTube description of the song perfectly elaborates on its vibe: “Love, masti and a little madness take centre stage in Teri Sexy Beauty. This fun-filled track brings a refreshing dose of romance, playful chemistry and carefree moments, celebrating the lighter side of love.”

However, the unexpected 5 AM release of a hip, irreverent love song for a tragic war drama left the internet slightly bewildered. Fans flooded social media with humorous and confused reactions. “Fun song but what is it doing in that film,” asked one fan. Another wondered, “Did he post it by mistake or is it just Salman being Salman?”. A third user simply quipped, “Salman bhai matches my sleep cycle.”

As for ‘Maatrubhumi’, the film is produced by Salman Khan Films and is currently awaiting a release date. Originally scheduled for April this year, the movie was postponed but firmly not shelved, as recently clarified by the makers. The delay stems from trouble over themes surrounding the Indo-China conflict, and the film is yet to get a screening date with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Meanwhile, Salman, who was last seen in the 2025 film ‘Sikandar’, continues to have a packed slate. He is set to star in Vamshi Paidipally’s ‘Monster’ co-starring Nayanthara, slated for an Eid release next year, and an untitled thriller with directors Raj & DK.

Currently, fans can catch him hosting ‘Bigg Boss 20’, which premiered on September 6 and streams daily on JioHotstar at 9:00 pm, followed by a television broadcast on Colors TV at 10:30 pm.
