As per a report in TMZ, the actress flagged down a car without any clothes and she told the driver that she was coming down from a psychiatric episode. The same report also stated that she then called 911 on herself, and she was then taken to the nearest police station. It was there that a mental health expert said that she needs to be put in the care of medical professionals.
TMZ also reported that Amanda Bynes also has a bipolar disorder, and she will continue to be in a psychiatric hold for several days.
For the unversed, psychiatric hold is a medical stay at the hospital or psychiatric facility and it is here where the person's mental state is evaluated.
Psychiatric hold generally lasts for 72 hours, however, the period can be extended based on the need of the patient.
Amanda Bynes started struggling with mental health and substance abuse in 2012 and in 2013, she was placed in her conservatorship.
She was eventually freed from conservatorship last year.
Amanda Bynes is known for her work in television and films through the 90s and 2000s. She started her career with the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series 'All That' and her big break came through 'The Amanda Show'.
She had made her film debut with 'Big Fat Liar' in 2022 and she starred in several hit movies like 'What A Girl Wants', 'She's The Man' and 'Easy A'.
