Rihanna's 'Lift Me Up' lost out to 'Naatu Naatu' at Golden Globes 2023.

'Naatu Naatu' from SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' made history on Wednesday as it became the first-ever Asian song to win the Best Original song award at the Golden Globes 2023. What makes the prize even more special is that the song defeated tracks sung by legends like Rihanna and Taylor Swift. Composer MM Keeravani, along with singers Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj won the Golden Globe for coming up with the uber-popular track for 'RRR'.

'Naatu Naatu' was competing against Taylor Swift’s 'Carolina' from 'Where the Crawdads Sing', 'Ciao Papa' from 'Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio', Lady Gaga’s 'Hold My Hand' from 'Top Gun: Maverick', and 'Lift Me Up' from 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever', performed by Rihanna.

As soon as 'Naatu Naatu' won the award, Rihanna started trending on Twitter, and here are some of the reactions:

'Wednesday' star Jenna Ortega had presented the Golden Globe award to MM Keeravani for 'Naatu Naatu'.

India previously scripted history in the Best Original Score category over a decade ago, when AR Rahman won for Danny Boyle’s 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Rahman was also nominated in the same category for Boyle’s follow-up, '127 Hours'.

However, 'RRR' failed to win in the Best Picture: Non-English Language category as it lost out the top prize to 'Argentina, 1985'.

'RRR' had made over 1,200 crore at the global box office and the movie is being widely appreciated in the West.

Now, it needs to be seen whether the movie gets nominated for the Oscars or not. The movie has submitted itself for consideration in various Oscars categories.
