‘Batman’ fans, the wait just got a little bit longer! Robert Pattinson’s ‘The Batman Part II’, which was slated to release in cinemas next year, has now been postponed. As per Variety, the film will now be released in theatres on October 2, 2026. For the unversed, the Hollywood film was previously slated to release theatrically on October 3, 2025. Matt Reeves will be back to direct ‘The Batman Part II’. However, it is not clear who beyond Robert Pattinson would be returning for the much-awaited sequel.

‘The Batman’ was released in cinemas in 2022. Apart from Robert Pattinson, the film also stars Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.

The story of the movie sees Batman, fighting crime in Gotham City for two years. The story then sees the caped crusader pursuing the Riddler (Dano), a serial killer who targets Gotham's corrupt elite. Made on a budget of USD 180-200 million, the movie directed by Matt Reeves went on to do a business of more than USD 770 million.

After the success of the film, the makers confirmed that they will be launching a Batman shared universe, with two sequels planned and two spin-off television series in development for the streaming service HBO Max. The series includes ‘The Penguin’ starring Colin Farrell, and it is slated to premiere on the streaming platform later this year.

As per Variety, Warner Bros, which is the studio behind the superhero movie, has also shuffled around other titles on its release calendar.

Maggie Gyllenhaal's ‘The Bride’, starring Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley, and Peter Sarsgaard, will now be taking The Batman Part II's old spot on October 3, 2025.

‘Alto Knights’, starring Robert De Niro, has now been shifted from November 15, 2024, to March 21, 2025.

The latest film from director Paul Thomas Anderson, will be released in cinemas on August 8, 2025. Little is known about the project but the star cast includes Leonardo Di Caprio, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and Alana Hain.

The production for the film is already underway in California.
