“This is really the start of the DCU,” Deadline quoted Safran as saying.
“It’s not an origins story, it focuses on Superman’s balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He’s the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, he’s kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old fashioned,” he added.
Previously, it was confirmed that Henry Cavill will not reprise his role as the Superman, and hence a new actor will be finalised for the role.
James Gunn and Safran also have their own Batman movie 'The Brave and the Bold' planned, and it will be the Dark Knight’s entry to their new DC universe.
As per Deadline, 'The Brave and the Bold' will tell the story of Bruce Wayne and the spitfire, who is the renegade son he didn’t know he had.
The other new movies apart from the above mentioned films in the new DC Universe are -- 'The Authority', 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow', and 'Swamp Thing'.
Some of the upcoming television series part of DC Universe are -- 'Creature Commandos (animation)', 'Waller' (TV/live action), 'Lanterns' (TV/live action), 'Paradise Lost' (TV/live action), and 'Booster Gold' (TV/live action).
