Sean Baker’s ‘Anora’, a drama about a sex worker who marries the pampered son of a Russian oligarch, emerged as the success story of Oscars 2025. The film won in five categories at the 97th Academy Awards, including the prize for Best Picture. The film defeated tough competition in the form of ‘The Brutalist’, ‘Emilia Perez’, ‘A Complete Unknown’ and more. Sean Baker won the Best Director award, while Mikey Madison took home the Best Actress accolade. Adrien Brody won the Best Actor award for his phenomenal performance in ‘The Brutalist’.

“I grew up in Los Angeles, but Hollywood always felt so far away from me, so to be here, standing in this room today is really incredible,” said ‘Anora’ actress Mikey Madison during her acceptance speech.

She also went on to pledge her support to the sex worker community, calling herself, “an ally.”
