Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is regarded as one of the most beautiful women in the world, and off late, she has been trending on social media due to her phenomenal performance in Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan 2'. Looks like, the western media were expecting her to show up at the ongoing Met Gala 2023, and this just proves how much of a global phenomenon she truly is. Alia Bhatt, who had made her Met Gala debut on Sunday, was mistaken by some members of the New York paparazzi as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
A video is going viral on social media, in which Alia Bhatt can be seen walking on the red carpet of Met Gala 2023. It was then that she was addressed as Aishwarya by some photographers.

To Alia Bhatt's credit, she looked completely unfazed, and continued to walk with a smile on her face.

For the unversed, Hollywood celebrities such as Gigi Hadid, Zendaya and Tom Holland had arrived in Mumbai, India for the launch of Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre’s inauguration.
It was then that some members of the Indian paparazzi fraternity mispronounced the names of Gigi Hadid, Zendaya and Tom Holland. Zendaya was referred to as "Jhandeya", while Tom Holland as referred to as "Spiderman", "Tommy" and "Makdi Man."
Talking about Alia Bhatt, she arrived at the Met Gala 2023 as designer Prabal Gurung’s muse.
They gave a subtle nod to Karl Lagerfeld with a gown that took inspiration from his unforgettable Chanel bride collection. Alia Bhatt took to her Instagram account to share dreamy pictures from the event.
Alia Bhatt also paid tribute to India with her dreamy pearl dress.
“I wanted to do something that felt authentic (hello, pearls!) and proudly made in India. The embroidery, made with a 100,000 pearls is a labour of love by @prabalgurung. I’m so proud to wear you for my first Met,” she wrote in her caption.
Alia's white gown also featured a wide plunging U neckline, a corseted bodice hugging her bust, cinched waistline defining her svelte frame, a layered tulle skirt, and a floor-sweeping train at the back. The ensemble was adorned with hand-embroidered white pearls all over.
Meanwhile, on the film front, Alia Bhatt had a remarkable 2022, with movies such as 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' and ‘Darlings’ winning her accolades.
The Bollywood actress will soon also make her international debut with Netflix’s ‘Heart of Stone’, with Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan.
