Man's Dying Wish Was To See 'Dune: Part Two'. Here's How Director Made It Happen
A man's dying wish was to see 'Dune: Part Two'. The director came up with a novel idea to make his dream come true.
'Dune: Part Two', starring Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya, has gotten off to a phenomenal start at the box office, and the new Denis Villeneuve-film, starring Zendaya and Timothee Chalamet, has beaten the worldwide opening of Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer'. The new Hollywood film has opened to phenomenal reviews, and it needs to be seen how much the movie ends up making in its lifetime run. In the latest Hollywood news, a palliative care patient’s end-of-life wish was to see 'Dune: Part Two' before he passed away. It was then that the director and his team made it happen almost two months before the film's premiere, reported Global News.
As per the latest Hollywood news, the same report stated that the man passed away, days after watching the new 'Dune' film.
It was in early January that a middle-aged man told an end-of-life worker Josee Gagnon that he was a cinephile and he really wants to see 'Dune: Part Two'.
“I thought to myself, what can we do? Then my husband reminded me that I could make anything happen. So I posted on social media and we were in contact with Villeneuve’s team within 12 hours,” Gagnon told Global News.
It was then that the post made its way to director Sebastian Pilote, who is from the same region, and he put her in touch with Villeneuve's team.
The director's team then arranged to fly out Villeneuve’s assistant to the palliative care centre with Villeneuve’s laptop.
The assistant then made everyone sign a non-disclosure contract, and then told the patient to choose one person to watch the movie with. He then chose one of the centre's caregivers, the report stated.
"She took everyone’s phones away and played the movie on the laptop for just the two of them in his room. Neither she nor I watched it. It was this really big deal,” Gagnon said.
“I was told even the President of the United States wasn’t able to see it before its release," she added.
'Dune: Part Two' has been received exceptionally well by the critics, and the film has a 94 per cent score on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
‘Dune: Part Two’ resumes the story of Paul Atreides (Chalamet) as he joins forces with the Fremen to save the galaxy from the Harkonnen empire. In ‘Dune: Part One’, the Harkonnen empire was responsible for the death of Paul's father.
Apart from Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya, 'Dune: Part Two' also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux and Austin Butler.
