Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni and Brandon Sklenar-starrer ‘It Ends With Us’ has turned out to be a box office hit, but it is unlikely that the stars will return for the sequel. For the unversed, rumours are rife about the ongoing feud between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. The two have co-starred in the film and served as executive producers on the movie. The rumours of their alleged feud are refusing to die down, as per a report in Variety.
“This is uncharted territory, and nobody has any idea of what a sequel could look like. There’s probably no world where these two will work together again,” Variety quoted a source as saying.
For the unversed, the story for the sequel to 'It Ends With Us' already exists in the form of Colleen Hoover's 2022 bestseller 'It Starts With Us'.
The events in 'It Starts With Us' starts a few months after where the first part ends. Justin Baldoni's character Ryle has a smaller part in the sequel, but his production house Wayfarer Studios owns the rights of both the books.
As per the report in Variety, Justin Baldoni who also helmed the first part, is willing to step back from directing the sequel.
At the premiere of 'It Ends With Us', Justin Baldoni had told Entertainment Tonight, "I think there are better people for that. I think Blake Lively’s ready to direct."
Even if Blake Lively decides to direct the sequel, she would be required to negotiate with Justin Baldoni in his capacity as one of the leading producers, who owns the rights to the book adaptations.
For the unversed, the rumours of the rift between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni began when the two did not promote the film together.
The duo was not clicked together at the premiere either. As per several reports, Blake Lively also commissioned an edit of the film, which was different from that of Justin Baldoni, which eventually made it as the final cut.
Blake Lively has also been reportedly telling people that Justin Baldoni fat-shamed her and kissed her for too long in an intimate scene.
The Variety report also states that Blake Lively's actor-husband Ryan Reynolds wrote a key scene of the film.
