'House of the Dragon' Season 2 finale has leaked online. In its official statement, HBO has blamed a "third-party distributor."

'House of the Dragon' Season 2 finale is supposed to air on Sunday, but days ahead of the release, the finale has been leaked online. In the latest entertainment news, a TikTok account has posted nearly 30 minutes of footage from the much-anticipated finale. Despite continuous effort to remove the leaked content, duplicate clips have started going viral on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). As per Variety, the TikTok account in question has shared 14 videos from the Season 2 finale, each garnering thousands of views.

HBO has now released an official statement, saying a "third-party distributor" is behind the leak.

"We are aware that clips from the House of the Dragon season finale have surfaced across social media platforms. The clips were posted after an unintentional release from an international third-party distributor," read a statement from HBO’s spokesperson, as reported by IGN.

"HBO is aggressively monitoring and removing clips from the internet, and fans can watch the episode in its entirety this Sunday night on HBO and Max,” the statement added.

For the unversed, this is not the first time that 'House of the Dragon' has faced such a setback. A similar leak had happened during Season 1 as well.

The final episode of Season 1 was also leaked online. The leak was said to have come from a distribution partner in Europe, the Middle East or Africa, according to HBO.

'Game of Thrones' also faced a similar situation where episodes from several seasons were leaked online, days ahead of their scheduled release.

For the unversed, the second season of 'House of the Dragon' premiered in June 2024.

Season 2 picked up after the first season's finale, where Rhaenyra Targaryen’s claim to the throne was rejected in favour of her half-brother Aegon. This led to the murder of her son Lucerys by his uncle Aemond.
