Akshay Kumar is currently making headlines as his latest Hindi film 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' has released in cinemas. The Ali Abbas Zafar-directorial, which also stars Tiger Shroff, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Alaya F, released on the occasion of Eid 2024. The new Hindi movie has been panned by the critics, and even the box office performance so far has been underwhelming. Since, Akshay Kumar is the talk of the town, we decided to narrate a story of the time when he broke his back while filming with The Undertaker for 'Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi'.
During an interview with YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia on his podcast, 'The Ranveer Show', Akshay Kumar talked about how he broke his back after lifting The Undertaker in 'Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi' (1996).
“Mujhe bhi yaad hai (the film) aur meri peeth ko bhi yaad hai… Toot gayi thi usko (The Undertaker) uthaya tha. I lifted him, I was mad. He was somewhere around 425 pounds or something and we went ahead and I decided ki, ‘okay utha loonga‘," said Akshay Kumar on the podcast.
“Kar toh liya, sab kuch ho gaya. Teen din baad, ‘khadak’ kuch bol gaya. Then I had a slipped disc… Abhi bahot behtareen hai," he added.
During the same podcast, Akshay Kumar also revealed that his closest friends don't belong to the film industry, and this is the main reason that he remains grounded till date.
"All my friends are from non-filmy backgrounds. I don’t really have very close friends in Bollywood, of course, Tiger Shroff has become one. We have been shooting together for over a year now. Having said that, I am still very close to my school friends who keep me grounded,” he shared.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar will next be seen in 'Sarfira', alongside Radhika Madan, Paresh Rawal and Seema Biswas. The movie is slated to be released in cinemas on July 12, 2024.
Akshay Kumar will also be seen in 'Skyforce' and 'Welcome to the Jungle' in 2024.
