Timothee Chalamet And Zendaya's 'Dune: Part Two' Earns More Than Kiran Rao's 'Laapataa Ladies' On Day 1
Box office report: Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya's 'Dune: Part Two' has outperformed Kiran Rao's 'Laapataa Ladies' on Day 1.
Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya-starrer 'Dune: Part Two' was released in theatres on March 1. The movie has a tremendous craze, and in the latest entertainment news, the newly-released Hollywood film has even outperformed Kiran Rao's 'Laapataa Ladies' on Day 1 in India. Yes, you read that right.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Dune: Part Two' earned Rs 2.50 crore on Friday while 'Laapataa Ladies' which has been backed by Aamir Khan Productions, earned Rs 0.65 crore.
For the unversed, both 'Dune: Part Two' and 'Laapataa Ladies' have earned excellent reviews, and the business of both films is expected to grow over the weekend in India.
'Laapataa Ladies' is set in rural India, and the film revolves around two young brides, who end up getting separated during a train journey. The movie stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kishan, and Chhaya Kadam.
On the other hand, 'Dune: Part Two' resumes the story of Paul Atreides (Chalamet) as he joins forces with the Fremen to save the galaxy from the Harkonnen empire. In 'Dune: Part One', the Harkonnen empire was responsible for the death of Paul's father.
Apart from Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya, 'Dune: Part Two' also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux and Austin Butler.
Speaking of last week's release 'Article 370', starring Yami Gautam and Priyamani in lead roles, the new Hindi film minted Rs 2.75 crore on Friday, which was the 8th day of its release. As per Sacnilk, the total nett domestic collection of the movie now stands at Rs 38.35 crore.
Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon's 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya' is also going strong at the box office, and the film's total earnings in India now stand at Rs 77.30 crore, as per Sacnilk.
Lastly, Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor's 'Fighter' now stands at Rs 211.81 crore.
