Rani Mukerji's 'Mardaani 3' Holds Its Own Against 'Border 2'. Check Latest Box Office Collection
Rani Mukerji’s ‘Mardaani 3’ has managed to brave competition from Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan’s 'Border 2'.
‘Mardaani 3’, starring Rani Mukerji, continues to go from strength to strength after the new Hindi movie registered its biggest single-day haul yet. On Sunday, the third day of its release, the project earned Rs 7.25 crore, bringing its three-day total to Rs 17.50 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. ‘Mardaani 3’ has managed to hold its own against ‘Border 2’. The film opened its journey with Rs 4 crore haul on the opening day and followed it up with a collection of Rs 6 crore on Saturday.
‘Mardaani 3’ has performed better than the franchise's first part, but it trails behind 'Mardaani 2'. Back in 2014, ‘Mardaani’ had collected Rs 14.38 crores in its opening weekend, and in 2019, 'Mardaani 2' managed to earn a total of Rs 18.15 crores.
The latest Hindi film has already earned glowing reviews from Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, Kiara Advani, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anushka Sharma, and many others.
'Mardaani 3' has been directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by YashRaj Films. Apart from Rani, the film also stars Janki Bodiwala and Mallika Prasad in important roles.
Now speaking about 'Border 2', the film stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh in the lead roles. The film earned Rs 22.50 crore on Sunday, the tenth day of its release, taking the total earnings to Rs 275.25 crore.
'Border 2' is set against the 1971 India–Pakistan war, and it also stars Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, and Medha Rana. It is produced by the powerhouse team of Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta.
The project serves as a sequel to the 1997 smash hit 'Border', directed by JP Dutta.
