'Metro In Dino' had a decent first weekend, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' will soon hit Rs 150 crore mark.

Romance has made a heartening return to the big screen, and audiences are showing up for it in solid numbers. Anurag Basu’s multi-starrer ‘Metro... In Dino’, featuring Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh, hit theatres on July 4. The film is steadily gaining momentum at the box office and is now inching towards the Rs 20 crore mark domestically – an encouraging sign for love stories in theatres.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the new Hindi film earned Rs 7.25 crore on Sunday, the third day of its release, taking the total nett domestic collection to Rs 16.75 crore. The film has gone past the lifetime collection of the first installment ‘Life In A Metro’, which released in 2007.

On Sunday, ‘Metro In Dino’ had the total occupancy of 39.75 per cent. 2007 release ‘Life In A Metro’, which also starred the late Irrfan Pathan, collected Rs 15.63 crore. The film received critical acclaim, however, it didn't receive a hit status at the box office.

For the unversed, Metro In Dino's box office collection is remarkable considering the amount of competition it is facing at the ticket counters. The film is being challenged by Aamir Khan's 'Sitaare Zameen Par', Scarlett Johanson’s 'Jurassic World: Rebirth' and Brad Pitt's 'F1'.

Aamir Khan's comedy-drama 'Sitaare Zameen Par' earned Rs 6.25 crore on Sunday, the 17th day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 148.80 crore. The film is expected to go past the Rs 150 crore mark on Monday, the 18th day of its release.

Coming back to 'Jurassic World: Rebirth', it hit theatres on the same day as 'Metro In Dino'. The new Hollywood release minted Rs 15.75 crore on Sunday, the third day of its release, taking the total nett India collection to Rs 38.78 crore.

Speaking of Brad Pitt's 'F1', the worldwide phenomenon has finally crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in India. The Hollywood film, which hit the Indian theatres on June 27, earned Rs 6.25 crore on Sunday, taking the total nett domestic collection to Rs 50.85 crore.

Vishnu Manchu's 'Kannappa', which also features cameos by Prabhas and Akshay Kumar, is running in theatres but the film is failing to find many takers at the ticket counters. In its first 10 days, the Telugu release has collected just Rs 31.84 crore.

Kajol's horror film 'Maa' is also doing relatively well at the box office. The Hindi release earned Rs 2.35 crore on its second Sunday, taking the 10-day collection to Rs 31.60 crore. It has now become the highest-grossing female-led Hindi film of 2025, going past Kangana Ranaut's 'Emergency'.
