Kareena Kapoor Khan's 'The Buckingham Murders' recorded an underwhelming start at the box office.

Kareena Kapoor Khan's 'The Buckingham Murders' released in cinemas on Friday, September 13. The new Hindi movie, directed by Hansal Mehta, is receiving positive response from all corners, however, this has not resulted in the box office numbers. 'The Buckingham Murders' recorded an underwhelming occupancy on Friday, the 1st day of its release. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, Kareena Kapoor's latest film earned Rs 1.15 crore on the opening day of its release.

For the unversed, 'The Buckingham Murders' has released in India in three versions -- Hindi, Hinglish and English. On Friday, the new Hindi film had an overall occupancy of 9.99 per cent.

'The Buckingham Murders' is Kareena Kapoor's second theatrical release of 2024 after 'Crew'. The new Hindi film has opened in the similar range as last year's sleeper hit, '12th Fail', starring Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankr.

The Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial opened at the box office with a collection of Rs 1.11 crore. However, it ended up earning more than Rs 70 crore in India.

'The Buckingham Murders' now needs to register solid growth over the weekend, to maintain its hopes of ending up with a respectable lifetime run at the ticket counters.

For the unversed, 'The Buckingham Murders' revolves around a British-Indian detective who is dealing with a personal loss and has been assigned the case of a murdered child in Buckinghamshire.

Kareena Kapoor's previous release 'Crew', which also stars Kriti Sanon, Tabu, Kapil Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh, earned more than Rs 80 crore in India.

Lastly, speaking of Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana and Pankaj Tripathi-starrer 'Stree 2', which was released on Independence Day 2024, earned Rs 3.35 crore on Friday, the 30th day of its release.

The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 542.70 crore in India. The Amar Kaushik directorial has already become the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of all time in India, and it needs to be seen whether it manages to break the record of Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' to become the highest-grossing Hindi film in India.
