It is fair to say that Nag Ashwin's upcoming sci-fi epic 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani, is one of the most ambitious projects of Indian cinema, and expectations are sky high from the film, which is set to be released in cinemas on June 27, 2024. In the latest entertainment news, in a recent discussion called 'The Kalki Chronicles', posted by Vijayanthi Network's YouTube channel, Amitabh Bachchan has apologised to the fans of rebel star Prabhas.

Jokingly requesting Prabhas' fans not to "massacre him, Amitabh Bachchan said, "When Nagi (Nag Ashwin) came to me to talk about the project, he just brought a picture of what my character is going to look like and what Prabhas is going to look like. And I was this huge guy who was shoving off The Prabhas."

"All the fans of Prabhas, please excuse me. Haath jod ke maafi maang rahe hain. Don’t massacre me after you see what I do in the film," he added.

Prabhas then smiled and responded to the veteran by saying, “Sir, they are all your fans.”

In another video, Kamal Haasan was seen accepting that he took more than one year to say yes to 'Kalki 2898 AD'.

“One of the most difficult casting ever was Kamal sir”, said producer Swapna Dutt.

Kamal Haasan then said, "It’s not a question of torture. Self-doubt comes you know. He has done this. (Pointing towards Amitabh and Prabhas) What am I going to do? That was the reason. And it’s not that I’ve played bad guys before. Even as a lead bad guy, psychopaths and all that. But this is something else.”

Prabhas then joined his hands as he agreed with Kamal Haasan that a role like this for him was his first time. "We are lucky to have Kamal sir," said Prabhas.

As per several reports, 'Kalki 2898 AD' is India's most expensive film to date.

Recently, the makers of 'Kalki 2898 AD' unveiled a two-part prelude to the film, titled 'B&B: Bujji & Bhairava’, featuring Prabhas’ character Bhairava and his futuristic vehicle Bujji, voiced by Keerthy Suresh. The series is currently streaming on Prime Video.

'Kalki 2898 AD' is slated to be released in cinemas on June 27, 2024.
