‘Bad Newz’ Advance Booking Day 1: Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri-Starrer Records Better Sales Than Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sarfira’
‘Bad Newz’ advance booking has gotten off to a solid start, and the new Hindi movie is likely to record a good collection on its opening day.

‘Bad Newz’, starring Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Ammy Virk, is one of the most awaited Hindi romantic comedies of 2024. And fans cannot wait for the film to release on July 19, considering how Hindi movies off late, have performed underwhelmingly at the box office. The advance booking for the film began on Tuesday afternoon. Ever since the ticket sales began, ‘Bad Newz’ has managed to sell 12,993 tickets for the opening day, grossing Rs 37.28 lakh, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk.
As per Pinkvilla journalist Himesh Mankad, 'Bad Newz' has already sold more than 5,500 tickets for the opening day across national cinema chains.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, "BAD NEWZ - 5500 TICKETS SOLD IN NATIONAL CHAINS! #BadNewz takes a promising start in pre-sales as top 3 national chains - PVRInox & Cinepolis - have sold 5500 tickets for the opening day alone as on Tuesday @ 9 PM. PVRInox: 4400 tickets, Cinepolis: 1100 tickets, Total: 5500 tickets. Note: Bookings opened today morning!"
In a previous post, he had said, "It seems like #BadNewz will bring a Good News at the Box Office on Friday. #VickyKaushal #TriptiDimri #AmmyVirk."

It is important to mention that 'Bad Newz' is showing a better advance booking trend as compared to last week's release 'Sarfira', starring Akshay Kumar. 'Sarfira' had just sold 34,373 tickets for the opening day, grossing 69.99 lakh, as reported by Sacnilk. The eventual first day collection of 'Sarfira' was Rs 2.50 crore.
Coming back to 'Bad Newz', the upcoming Hindi film has been directed by Anand Tiwari and it has been jointly bankrolled by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Amritpal Singh Bindra and Tiwari.
Vicky Kaushal was last seen in 'Sam Bahadur', while Triptii Dimri gained a lot of fans after starring in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 'Animal'.
For the unversed, 'Animal' and 'Sam Bahadur' were released on the same date. Both the films turned out to be success stories at the box office. However, it was Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' that collected more than Rs 500 crore in India despite being criticised for portraying toxic masculinity and misogyny.
Ammy Virk, on the other hand, was last seen in ‘Kudi Haryane Val Di’, co-starring Sonam Bajwa.
