Akshay Kumar is back with a bang. The Bollywood superstar’s latest release ‘Sky Force’ is performing exceptionally well at the ticket counters as compared to his last few films. It looks likely that ‘Sky Force’ will emerge as Khiladi Kumar’s first box office hit since 2023’s ‘OMG 2’. The new Hindi movie, which also stars Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur, earned Rs 27.50 crore on Sunday, the third day of its release, recording its biggest single-day haul yet.

Earlier, ‘Sky Force’ had opened to a collection of Rs 12.25 crore on its opening day and the film followed it up with a collection of Rs 22 crore on its second day on Saturday. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film’s nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 61.75 crore.

The Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani directorial recorded a 120 per cent jump on Sunday from its opening day collection. On Sunday, the film had an overall occupancy rate of 42.44 per cent in the Hindi market.

Akshay Kumar’s last hit at the box office was ‘OMG 2’. His previous few releases such as ‘Sarfira’, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, ‘Mission Raniganj’ and ‘Khel Khel Mein’, all tanked at the box office.

‘Sky Force’ continues to put up a better performance than Akshay Kumar’s previous few releases. ‘Bachchhan Paandey’ earned Rs 12 crore on its first Sunday. His other films such as ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ (Rs 16.1 crore), ‘Raksha Bandhan’ (Rs 7.05 crore), ‘Ram Setu’ (Rs 7.25 crore), ‘Selfiee’ (Rs 3.95 crore), ‘Mission Raniganj’ (Rs 5 crore), ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ (Rs 9.05 crore), ‘Sarfira’ (Rs 5.25 crore) and ‘Khel Khel Mein’ (Rs 3.85 crore) also failed to leave an impact on their first Sundays.

It is important to state that the first Sunday earnings of ‘Sky Force’ are even better than that of Akshay Kumar's last theatrical hit ‘OMG 2’ (Rs 17.55 crore).

‘Sky Force’ holds a strong chance of emerging as a success story at the box office. However, the film will face tough competition from Shahid Kapoor’s much-anticipated film ‘Deva’, which will release in theatres this Friday, January 31.

With ‘Sky Force’ performing well, Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ crashed at the box office and the film is yet to cross even the Rs 20 crore mark domestically.
