‘War 2’ To Be Directed By Ayan Mukerji To Direct, Hrithik Roshan Confirmed As Lead
‘War 2’ will be directed by Ayan Mukerji, the second installment of the hit 2019 Bollywood movie ‘War’, which starred Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor.
Hold on to your seats movie buffs because the Yash Raj Films’ spy universe is about to get a whole lot bigger! Aditya Chopra has announced the seventh film in the YRF spy universe, 'War 2', and it's sure to get everyone talking. The new Hindi Bollywood movie will be directed by Ayan Mukerji, who last helmed the hit 2022 Bollywood movie ‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’. Hrithik Roshan, who starred in ‘War’, will be reprising his role of Kabir in the upcoming installment.
Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the film update on his Twitter handle. However, there are no details about the other cast members yet. The release date of the film has also not been revealed.

According to Taran Adarsh, ‘War 2’ will follow the events of ‘Tiger 3’, which will star Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi. ‘Tiger 3’ is set to hit theatres on the auspicious occasion of Diwali 2023.
Not much is known about ‘War 2’ yet but the film promises to be an action-packed, thrilling ride that will keep the audience on the edge of their seats just like its first part. ‘War’, which released in October 2019, also starred Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor.
Created by Aditya Chopra, the YRF spy universe kicked off with the ‘Tiger’ franchise, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, beginning with ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ (2012) and ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ (2017), and continued with ‘War’.
The latest instalment in the universe, ‘Pathaan’, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, is the biggest Indian hit of 2023 so far.
In the ‘Tiger’ franchise, Salman Khan played Avinash Singh Rathore, AKA Tiger, who belongs to Indian intelligence agency RAW and Katrina Kaif played Zoya Humaini from Pakistan’s ISI.
In ‘War’, Hrithik Roshan essayed the role of rogue RAW agent Kabir Dhaliwal and Tiger Shroff was his protégé Khalid Rahmani.
In ‘Pathaan’, Shah Rukh Khan played exiled RAW agent Pathaan and Deepika Padukone was an ISI agent Rubina Mohsin.
Salman Khan’s Tiger had a cameo appearance in SRK’s ‘Pathaan’ and the film also featured Colonel Sunil Luthra (Ashutosh Rana), who first appeared in ‘War’ and is expected to be in ‘Tiger 3’ as well.
Coming back to ‘War’, the film was directed by Siddharth Anand and turned out to be the biggest blockbuster of 2019 with collection of over Rs 300 crore at the domestic box office.
