Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi feature in the trailer of 'Ek Din'.

Junaid Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, has already made two acting debuts – first on streaming with ‘Maharaj’ and later in theatres with ‘Loveyapa’. However, neither project managed to firmly establish him as a promising new actor. Now, Junaid is gearing up for his third outing ‘Ek Din’, a film produced by his father’s banner. In the movie, he stars opposite Sai Pallavi, one of the most acclaimed actresses in South Indian cinema.

The film will also mark Sai Pallavi’s Bollywood debut, ahead of her highly anticipated appearance in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’, which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Yash and is slated for release in November.

The trailer for ‘Ek Din’ was unveiled on Wednesday, offering audiences a glimpse into the film’s romantic storyline. The narrative revolves around Junaid’s character, who harbours deep feelings for Sai Pallavi’s character, even though she remains unaware of his love.

Check out the trailer here:

The 2-minute-12-second trailer opens with Junaid standing before a Fortune Bell, believed to grant wishes to lovers. Watching Sai Pallavi’s character, Meera, walk past him alongside actor Kunal Kapoor, Junaid silently wishes, “Kaash Meera meri ho jaaye, chaahe ek din ke liye hi sahi.” Although he does not ring the bell himself, a gust of wind causes it to sway, seemingly making his wish come true.

The story then shifts to a birthday moment where Meera is seen singing “Happy Birthday” to Junaid while holding a cupcake. When she asks him to make a wish and blow out the candle, he replies, “Meri wish toh poori ho gayi.” What follows are scenes of the two spending a seemingly perfect day together.

As the trailer progresses, the pair are shown sharing several tender and joyful moments. However, it gradually becomes clear that Junaid’s character might be reading too much into Meera’s actions. The tone takes a sudden turn towards the end when she unexpectedly slaps him, hinting at emotional conflict in the story.

Adding emotional depth to the trailer is a track playing in the background. The song carries special significance as it is believed to be one of Arijit Singh’s final songs as a playback singer.

‘Ek Din’ was largely shot in Japan and draws inspiration from the Thai film ‘One Day’, which was also filmed extensively in the country.

The film marks the directorial debut of Sunil Pandey, who previously worked on Aamir Khan projects such as ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ and ‘Delhi Belly’. ‘Ek Din’ is scheduled to release in theatres on May 1.

Earlier, Aamir Khan had revealed that Junaid had auditioned for the lead role in ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, but he chose not to cast or launch his son through the film. Speaking about the decision on Rhea Chakraborty’s YouTube channel, Aamir explained that he did not want to compromise the audience’s trust.
