“Plastic Ki Kursiyaan...”: Vikrant Massey's Shocking Revelation, Says Friends Disrespected Him For His Financial Condition
Vikrant Massey, who received immense praise for his performance in the 2023 movie ‘12th Fail’, has opened up about his financial condition before becoming an actor.
Vikrant Massey had a remarkable 2023 as he received immense praise and recognition for his movie ‘12th Fail’. The Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial was based on the life of IPS officer Manoj Sharma, and the movie turned out to be a classic underdog story, resonating with millions in India. For his performance in ‘12th Fail’, Vikrant Massey also bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Actor (Critics). The actor, in a recent interview, opened up about his financial condition before becoming an actor. He also revealed that his friends distanced themselves from him after they visited his home.
In an interview with Unfiltered by Samdish, Vikrant Massey revealed that he had once invited his closest friends for lunch at home. However, when they arrived, Vikrant Massey felt that he was being judged based on his house’s condition.
“Meri maa bahut achha khana banati thi. Toh maine unko bulaya and I said ‘daawat pe aajao’. Jab woh ghar aaye aur unhone ghar ki disha dekhi, unhone dekha ki plastic ki khursiyaan hai ghar pe, paint chip ho raha hai, silan lagii hui hai ceiling pe, kitchen unke hisaab se aesthetically clean nahi tha, toh agle din se unka bartaav meri taraf badal gaya,” he said.

Vikrant Massey also added that he found out about the opinions of his friends through some mutuals, and he learnt that they had disrespected him and also made comments about his house.
Speaking of Vikrant Massey’s movie ‘12th Fail’, his portrayal of IPS officer Manoj Sharma in the 2023 Hindi movie has been lauded by several celebrities like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, Hrithik Roshan, and Kangana Ranaut.
‘12th Fail’ was released in theatres in October 2023, and recently landed on Disney+ Hotstar.
Apart from Vikrant Massey, the movie also featured actress Medha Shankr who essayed the role of Manoj Sharma’s wife and IRS Officer Shraddha Joshi.
The movie chronicles Manoj's life as a young boy from Chambal, who manages to become an IPS officer after years of hard work and dedication.
For the unversed, Vikrant Massey began his acting journey in the television industry. His breakthrough came with the hit TV show ‘Balika Vadhu’. Transitioning to films, he showcased his talent in movies like ‘A Death in the Gunj’, ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ and ‘Love Hostel’.
