"Very Special Moment": Varun Dhawan Joins Sunny Deol In 'Border 2'
Varun Dhawan will star alongside Sunny Deol in the upcoming Hindi film 'Border 2'.
Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has officially joined the star cast of 'Border 2'. For the unversed, the movie will also star Sunny Deol. The upcoming Hindi film will be directed by Anurag Singh, who had previously helmed Akshay Kumar's 'Kesari', which was based on the Battle of Saragarhi in which an army of 21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 Afghans in 1897. Varun Dhawan made the announcement on Instagram. Taking to the social media platform, he wrote, "I was just a kid in class four when I went to Chandan cinema and saw Border. And it made such a big impact. I still remember the sense of national pride we all felt in the hall. I began looking up to our armed forces and to this day, I salute how they protect us and keep us safe be it on our borders or during natural calamities."
"JP Dutta sir’s war epic remains one of my most favourite movies to this day. To play a part in Border 2 produced by J P sir and Bhushan Kumar is a very, very special moment in my career. For the unversed, 'Border 2' is a sequel to JP Dutta's 1997 blockbuster 'Border', which was also headlined by Sunny Deol.
Gulshan Kumar and T-Series and Dutta’s JP Films are presenting 'Border 2'. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta, 'Border 2' is slated to release in cinemas on January 23, 2026.
On the work front, Varun Dhawan was last seen as 'Bhediya' in recently released 'Stree 2', starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khuranna and Pankaj Tripathi.
He has Prime Video series' 'Citadel: Honey Bunny' coming up. Varun Dhawan will also be seen in 'Baby John', slated to release in cinemas on December 25, 2024.
On the other hand, Sunny Deol last year enjoyed massive box office success with 'Gadar 2'.
