Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor's ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ To Clash With Rishab Shetty's ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’
The first posters of Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor from ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ have been unveiled. A new release has also been announced.
After sharing screen space in ‘Bawaal’, Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor are all set to collaborate once again for Shashank Khaitan’s upcoming romantic comedy ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’. Their second collaboration has generated plenty of excitement, and now fans finally have a new date to mark on their calendars – the film is set to hit theatres on October 2, 2025. The film, which has been postponed multiple times, was earlier set to release on September 12.
But on Monday, Dharma Productions officially announced the new release date along with the first look poster of Varun Dhawan as “Sunny Sanskari.”
In the poster, Varun is all smiles, dressed in a shiny beige embroidered shirt with over-the-top accessories and sunglasses, striking a pose with folded hands. The caption revealed a quirky couplet in true Bollywood flair, “Sunny Sanskari ki shaayari - ‘Yeh aansoon hain mere, samundar ka jal nahin... Yeh aansoon hai mere, samundar ka jal nahin… Baarish ka kya bharosa, aaj hai...kal nahi!!!’

Janhvi Kapoor's first poster from the film has also been unveiled, along with the caption, "Dikhne mein bholi bhaali, chanchal pyaari…Lekin andar se melodramatic like Meena Kumari!!!"
The film marks Varun Dhawan’s third collaboration with director Shashank Khaitan after their hits ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ (2014) and ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ (2017). Apart from Varun and Janhvi, the film also features an ensemble cast including Akshay Oberoi, Rohit Saraf, Sanya Malhotra, and Maniesh Paul.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the decision to shift the release to October 2 was strategic. A source close to the project said, “Producer Karan Johar and the whole team realized that this is the apt time to bring this romcom. This year, besides Gandhi Jayanti, Dussehra also falls on the same day. Hence, it’ll be a festive period and hopefully, it will face no other competition until Diwali. In other words, it will have a clean run for three weeks.”
However, the film isn’t entirely without box office competition. It’s now set to clash with ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ and Harshvardhan Rane’s ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ on the same day.
Meanwhile, both leads have packed schedules ahead. Janhvi Kapoor is gearing up for ‘Param Sundari’, while Varun Dhawan will appear next in ‘Border 2’, hitting theatres on Republic Day 2026.
With a promising cast, festive release, and a rom-com formula backed by Dharma Productions, ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ is one to watch out for.
