Sonam Kapoor gave her fans a sneak peek into her baby shower ceremony ahead of welcoming her second baby with husband Anand Ahuja.
Bollywood actress and style icon Sonam Kapoor is expecting her second child with husband Anand Ahuja. Ahead of welcoming their second baby, Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja, invited friends and family to their home for baby shower (Godh Bharai) ceremony. Recently, the ‘Neerja’ actress took to Instagram to share a glimpse of the ceremony, showcasing unseen moments featuring her cousins Arjun Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, and friends Kareena Kapoor Khan, Masaba, and Bhumi Pednekar.
“Seemantonnayan, the third of the sixteen sacred sanskars in Sanatan Dharma. Often called the “hair-parting ritual,” it honours the mother and the life she carries. Known as Godh Bharai, Shrimant, Dohale Jevan, Shaad, Seemantham, Valaikappu, Seemantha, Pulikkudi and Sadhabhakshan across different parts of India — the names may change, but the blessing remains the same: love, protection and celebration of new life,” she wrote as the caption.
“This ancient ritual felt even more meaningful because all my best friends in the world showed up for me. My whole family did too. I felt so held. And to my mum, my mother-in-law, and my sister — thank you for organising everything and making me feel so deeply loved, cherished and celebrated. I will never forget this. A lap full of blessings. A heart overflowing with gratitude,” she added.

The wholesome video shared by Sonam Kapoor showed her loved ones showering the mother-to-be with blessings on her special day.
For the occasion, Anand Ahuja was seen dressed in a white kurta pajama with gold accents. On the other hand, Sonam was seen flaunting a baby bump in a hand-printed pistachio green ethnic ensemble.
It is worth mentioning that Sonam and Anand are already parents to a baby boy, Vayu.
Sonam first met Anand Ahuja in 2015 when she was busy promoting ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’. She had earlier revealed that while her friends initially wanted to set her up with one of Anand’s friends, she found herself talking more to Anand instead.
After two weeks of constant texting, the two grew closer and eventually tied the knot in a grand wedding ceremony in 2018. The couple welcomed their son, Vayu, in 2022. In November 2025, Sonam announced her second pregnancy in style by sharing pictures of herself in a pink outfit inspired by Princess Diana, simply captioned, “Mother.”
Previously, speaking to Hindustan Times about motherhood after the birth of her first child, Sonam reflected on how it reshaped her priorities.
"You become more responsible as a human being. You give your time only where it’s needed and to what’s important. Your time is basically owned by someone else. My time is mostly for my son and husband. I love my work, and that’ll also be an equal priority. Now your timings have changed. Frivolous things aren’t as important as you thought they used to be,” she said.
