Shilpa Shetty Breaks Silence On Viral Reservation Remark, Calls It “Fake News”
Shilpa Shetty has slammed a viral post falsely attributing remarks on India's reservation system to her, calling the claims “completely fabricated” and “malicious garbage.”
Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra has spoken out after a fabricated statement on India's reservation system was widely circulated online under her name. The Bollywood star dismissed the viral claim as entirely false, stressing that she has never made the comments being attributed to her. The controversy gained momentum after a social media post claiming to quote Shilpa on caste-based reservation began circulating. The post alleged that the actress had backed abolishing the reservation system, prompting widespread discussion across online platforms.

Addressing the issue on X (formerly Twitter), Shilpa firmly distanced herself from the statement and expressed concern over the spread of misinformation. She clarified that the viral quote was fake and had no connection to her, urging people not to fall for misleading content shared using her name or image.
The Bollywood actress emphasised that the opinions featured in the post did not reflect her personal beliefs in any way. She also appealed to social media users to rely on verified sources and official accounts before accepting or amplifying controversial claims involving public personalities.
"I am shocked to see fake statements on reservation false attached to my name. This is completely fabricated, malicious garbage. Do not fall for this fake news!," Shilpa wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

According to reports, the fabricated post first gained traction on Instagram before spreading across other platforms. It falsely claimed that Shilpa had criticised caste-based reservation and included remarks suggesting that doctors should treat patients only from their own communities based on caste.

The fake message went on to argue that such an arrangement would eventually push people to oppose the reservation system, and claimed that merit could not be achieved through reservation. These remarks, however, were never made by the actress.
After the post went viral, Shilpa Shetty's public clarification helped put an end to the speculation while drawing attention to the increasing misuse of celebrities' identities to spread false narratives online.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Shilpa Shetty was last seen in the 2026 Kannada film ‘KD: The Devil’, co-starring Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, V Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah, and Nora Fatehi.
Prior to this, she featured in the 2024 Amazon Prime Video series ‘Indian Police Force’. Directed by Rohit Shetty, it also starred Vivek Oberoi and Sidharth Malhotra. Before this, Shilpa Shetty was seen in ‘Sukhee’, which also starred Amit Sadh, Dilnaz Irani, Kusha Kapila, and Pavleen Gujral.
