Shakti Kapoor Claims Daughter Shraddha Kapoor Charges More Than Alia Bhatt, Ananya Panday
Shakti Kapoor shut down rumours about Shraddha Kapoor’s career slowdown, saying she chooses to do fewer films and is actually paid more than her peers.
In an industry that often equates a crowded release calendar with professional success, many believe that being busy is the only way to stay relevant in Bollywood. However, Shraddha Kapoor has long defied this norm by being notoriously selective with her projects. Addressing recent speculation that this cautious approach means she’s losing ground to contemporaries like Alia Bhatt and Ananya Panday, her father, veteran actor Shakti Kapoor, has stepped forward to set the record straight – claiming that for Shraddha, less is actually much more.
In a recent appearance on the YouTube podcast The Powerful Humans, Shakti Kapoor addressed ongoing speculation regarding his daughter Shraddha Kapoor’s career trajectory. He firmly dismissed rumours that Shraddha receives fewer opportunities than contemporaries like Alia and Ananya, clarifying that her limited screen presence is a matter of choice, not a lack of offers.
Shakti Kapoor also claimed that despite doing fewer films, Shraddha commands a higher pay check than her peers. “Woh picturein hi kam karti hai. Best karti hai. Par paisa zyada leti hai. In sabse zyada paisa leti hai. She does just one or two films a year,” he said.
He went on to clarify that Shraddha consciously chooses to take on only one or two films a year, brushing aside rumours that she is struggling to get work. Laughing off such claims, he remarked sarcastically, “She is not getting work?”
Beyond professional choices, Shakti provided a glimpse into Shraddha’s personality and their father-daughter dynamic. Shakti shared, “Bahut ziddi hai… She is very stubborn and does what her heart says. She has certain ethics and follows them strictly… We share a great relationship. Sometimes we fight, sometimes we plan holidays, sometimes we discuss films. I am very proud of her – her performances are outstanding. She is a very fine actor.”
Shraddha Kapoor was last seen in blockbuster hit ‘Stree 2’, co-starring Rajkummar Rao. She also recently branched out into international animation, lending her voice to Judy Hopps in the Hindi version of ‘Zootopia 2’.
Her upcoming line-up suggests she remains one of the busiest and most versatile actors in the industry. It is believed that she will star in ‘Tumbbad’ prequel ‘Pahadpangira’ and will also star in the supernatural drama ‘Naagin’. She is also slated to appear in ‘Stree 3’ and ‘Bhediya 2’. Shraddha will also be seen in ‘Eetha’, a biographical drama about the life of celebrated Marathi folk artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar.
