‘Dhurandhar’ Trailer: Ranveer Singh Promises “Dhamaka” In Aditya Dhar’s Gory Actioner
The trailer of ‘Dhurandhar’, starring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan and Arjun Rampal, is finally out.
The makers of ‘Dhurandhar’ unveiled the much-awaited trailer of Ranveer Singh’s grand comeback at a launch event in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon, instantly setting social media ablaze. Packed with unrelenting action, searing intensity and a heavy, pulsating score, the spy thriller introduces Ranveer in a ferocious new avatar that fans are already calling a nod to his iconic, menacing “Khilji era”. The trailer, gritty and unapologetically violent, gives viewers their first look into what the makers describe as Ranveer’s “most violent film,” one that is “inspired by incredible true events”.
Check out the trailer here:
The trailer begins by laying out the film’s key players through a sequence of sharp, graphic visuals. The opening moments plunge the viewer into a brutal torture scene that introduces Arjun Rampal as ISI agent Major Iqbal, infamously known as the “Angel of Death,” whose motto is to “bleed India with a thousand cuts”. From there, the film shifts to the Indian side of the conflict, revealing R Madhavan as spymaster Ajay Sanyal – sporting an Ajit Doval-inspired look – who declares that infiltrating Pakistan’s terror network is the only way forward.
The violence escalates as the trailer moves to Akshaye Khanna’s entry as the unpredictable Rehman Dakait, with body parts flying and slow-mo smoking shots heightening his intimidating presence. Sanjay Dutt joins the rogue line-up as SP Chaudhary Aslam, adding even more chaos to the already explosive ensemble. And then comes the counterforce: Ranveer Singh, entering with a swagger-filled promise to turn their flame into a full-blown explosion. “Tum logo ke patakhe khatam ho gaye toh main dhamaka shuru karu?” he says, setting the tone for the storm that follows.
‘Dhurandhar’ is rumoured to be loosely based on the life of Major Mohit Sharma, who operated undercover as “Iftikhar” to infiltrate Hizbul Mujahideen in the early 2000s – a storyline briefly explored earlier this year in Netflix’s ‘Saare Jahan Se Accha’.
With R Madhavan’s character said to mirror Ajit Doval’s real-life persona, the film’s world leans heavily into high-stakes intelligence operations, layered deception and covert missions.
For Ranveer Singh, ‘Dhurandhar’ marks his first major leading appearance since ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ in 2023. He has since been seen only in smaller appearances – reprising Simmba in ‘Singham Again’ and playing a fictional version of himself in Aryan Khan’s series ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’. Fans have waited two years for him to headline a film, making the impact of this trailer even stronger. The buzz only intensified when Ranveer shared the first poster on Tuesday morning, calling his character the “wrath of God”.
The film marks Aditya Dhar’s return to direction after six years, following his National Award-winning debut ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, which catapulted Vicky Kaushal to superstardom. Since then, Aditya Dhar has been active as writer and producer, backing titles like ‘Article 370’, ‘Dhoom Dhaam’ and ‘Baramulla’.
‘Dhurandhar’ is produced by Aditya Dhar alongside Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar, and also features Sara Arjun.
Comments like “This intense look suits Ranveer Singh” and “GOAT Ranveer, welcome back!” have flooded social media ever since the trailer was released.
‘Dhurandhar’ releases in theatres on December 5.
