She further said, “Even till today, everybody is so passionate about their job and work, once they are in the project, they give it their 100 per cent. Even for ‘Maidaan’, Ajay sir being such a versatile actor, he is a filmmaker himself, he is a director, he is a producer. He is like all-in-one, but when it came to ‘Maidaan’, he blindly trusted Amit Sharma (director).”
While speaking about Ajay Devgn, Priyamani added, “I am nobody to say whether there was any interference or not, but I also believe, he just blindly went in with Amit Sharma had and what his vision was. He just said okay, kya karna hai, ye karna hai. Theek hai.”
The Indian actress then spoke about Shah Rukh Khan. The stars first shared screen space in the song ‘One Two Three Four’ from the hit film ‘Chennai Express’. They later collaborated for Atlee’s 2023 directorial venture ‘Jawan’.
Speaking about SRK, Priyamani said, “Even Shah Rukh also, in a movie like ‘Jawan’, see he knows the entire script by heart. He knows everything, everybody's lines. What I am saying is, the moment he comes into the set, Atlee sir would be like sir I want you to do this, he then says, sir can I do it like this? He spent so much time even on the look set, scene ke liye hum log ye karenge. He is open to suggestions that way.”
She also praised her ‘The Family Man’ co-star Manoj Bajpayee and said, “Manoj sir is someone, I don't have words for him. He is absolutely brilliant. You have to be on your toes when you work with someone like Manoj sir, he is so spontaneous. The way he is during the rehearsals, he is not the same during takes. You have to be on your toes all the times.”
Further asked about what makes Shah Rukh Khan so special, Priyamani said, “I wish I could explain it to you. I seriously wish I could explain it to you. But there is something about him, there is a natural charm. You cannot not fall in love with that man. That man has defined the ideal explanation and meaning of a gentleman. The way he respects everybody, he is so eloquent. He is so knowledgeable, you give him any topic under the sun, he knows it. If he doesn’t know, he will learn it and come back the next day.”
She further said, “There’s not one person who cannot fall in love with that man because of the way he purely speaks and he makes you feel wanted, he makes you feel special for that how much ever time you are spending with him. And his wittiness, his responses, his sense of humour… so brilliant.”
Priyamani was last seen in the 2024 Hindi movie ‘Article 370’, co-starring Yami Gautam. She will now feature in the upcoming film ‘Maidaan’, co-starring Gajraj Rao. It is a biographical sports drama based on the life of football legend Syed Abdul Rahim.
Reportedly, ‘Maidaan’ has been passed with no cuts by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and has a run time of 3 hours and 1 minute.
