Aviation Firm Files Rs 3 Crore Defamation Suit Against Nora Fatehi
An aviation company has slapped Nora Fatehi with a Rs 3 crore civil defamation suit.

Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi found herself at the centre of a legal controversy after aviation company Dunes Aviation filed a Rs 3 crore civil defamation suit against her over the remarks she made about one of its chartered aircraft on social media. The company accused Nora of making “derogatory and reckless” comments about its aircraft, claiming that the actress’ social media posts caused reputational damage and adversely affected its business. According to news agency PTI, the suit was filed in April before a court in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The matter is scheduled to be heard on September 25.

The dispute reportedly stems from an incident in December last year, when Nora travelled from Mumbai to Jaipur aboard a Cessna Citation CJ2 operated by Dunes Aviation. During the flight, Nora allegedly recorded videos inside the aircraft and referred to it as a “miniature”, “toy” and “lego airplane”. She later shared the clips on Instagram.
Dunes Aviation has objected to the remarks, alleging that they were made without sufficient technical knowledge, verification or factual basis. The company claims that the posts created a negative impression of its services and aircraft.

In its lawsuit, Dunes Aviation alleged that the social media posts had a direct impact on its commercial operations. The company claimed that some bookings were cancelled following the controversy and that its bookings subsequently declined by around 15-20 per cent. It also alleged that the incident resulted in serious damage to its reputation and goodwill, along with an adverse commercial impact.
Dunes Aviation, however, has maintained that the aircraft featured in Nora’s posts was fully airworthy and certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The company has also stated that it was operating the aircraft under a valid Non-Scheduled Operator’s Permit (NSOP).
Along with Rs 3 crore in damages, Dunes Aviation has sought the removal of social media content relating to the incident. The case, which was filed in April, will next come up for hearing on September 25. The court will consider the claims and contentions raised in the proceedings.
Speaking of Nora, she was born in Canada and made her Bollywood debut with a small role in 'Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans' in 2014. She gradually became a familiar face in the Hindi film industry, particularly through her appearances in popular dance numbers.
Apart from films, she has also appeared on television and in web series. Nora has additionally explored her musical side, lending her voice to several songs during her career.
