American singer Nick Jonas is currently busy promoting his new album ‘Sunday Best’ and, as part of the press run, has been opening up about both his career and personal life. Unsurprisingly, conversations often circle back to his wife, actress Priyanka Chopra, and their journey as parents to daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas. During a recent appearance on The Zach Sang Show, Nick reflected on how becoming a parent has fundamentally changed his outlook on life.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Sunday Best’, the singer said that parenthood has completely “shifted the worldview on everything.” He explained how watching a child experience the world for the first time is both emotional and eye-opening. “The first time a little mind has experienced something, it is wild,” he said, adding that even simple questions like why glass is clear make parents rethink concepts they have long taken for granted.

Nick Jonas also spoke about how fatherhood has influenced his approach to music and storytelling. Describing empathy and gentleness as the most fascinating aspects of parenting, he shared that he now writes songs with his daughter in mind. “I am writing about things now that I want to explain to her,” he said, noting that he can’t stop thinking about the fact that she will one day listen to his music.

Nick revealed that Malti already has a favourite track, ‘Love Me to Heaven’, which is played at the start of his live sets. He fondly mentioned videos of her standing side-stage with Priyanka, holding on to her dress because she wants to run up and join him on stage.

The conversation also touched upon Nick’s deepening connection with Indian culture since marrying Priyanka in 2018. He shared that he had always wanted a big family and was happy to discover that Priyanka shared the same values. Recalling his first visit to India, Nick described the experience as magical, saying it allowed him to connect meaningfully with her friends, family, and traditions. “Some of my favourite traditions and holidays are now Indian traditions and holidays,” he said, adding that many of his most cherished memories are either based in India or closely connected to it.

Nick Jonas went on to reveal that Malti is being raised with Hindu values, explaining that the religion has also had a profound impact on his own spirituality. “I have learnt a lot about Hinduism, which is amazing. It’s profound and beautiful,” he said, highlighting concepts like karma and treating others the way one wishes to be treated. According to Nick, these teachings have helped shape his evolving faith, which he described as strong and central to who he is today.

Interestingly, Nick also reflected on his own upbringing, sharing that his father was an ordained minister at an Assemblies of God church. He recalled growing up watching his father preach while he and his brothers sat in the front row, an experience that played a significant role in shaping his early understanding of faith and spirituality.
