“I Had To…”: Karan Johar’s Boss Reply To Troll Questioning Identity Of Yash And Roohi’s Mother
Karan Johar was recently asked who is the mother of his kids Yash and Roohi. Here's what he said.
Indian director and producer Karan Johar, who delivered a hit in the form of ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ and returned with another season of his popular chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’ in 2023, has a love-hate relationship with the internet. Karan Johar, who never shies away from speaking his mind, is often subjected to vicious trolling on social media. The director is frequently also criticised for being a “flag bearer” of nepotism. Sometimes, he has also been targeted for his sexuality.
Karan Johar has turned a deaf ear to the criticism he receives. And he, more often than not, ignores his trolls. However, the director recently clapped back at a troll who questioned the identity of the mother of his twins, Roohi and Yash.
The director-producer recently shared an adorable video of his daughter Roohi having a playful exchange with digital assistant Siri, asking it to sing a song. KJo captioned the post, “Roohi Vs Siri,” and added a laughing emoji.

In the comments section of the clip, a social media user wrote, “Who is the mother of Roohi? Can anybody please tell me? I am confused.”
Karan Johar was quick to respond to the troll as he commented, “I AM!!! Am so worried about your confused state so I had to answer your pertinent and relevant query.”
KJo’s response garnered support from many fans and followers. One fan commented, “Good answer.” Another one asked, “Have you heard the word surrogacy?”
For the unversed, Karan Johar became a father through surrogacy in February 2017. KJo named Yash after his late father Yash Johar, while Roohi is an anagram of his mother's name Hiroo.
In a previous interview with journalist Faye D’Souza on her YouTube channel, Karan Johar opened up about how his children have started asking questions about their birth.
“It is a modern family. It is an unusual circumstance, so now I am also dealing with the questions about ‘whose stomach was I born in? But mumma is not mumma really, she is my grandmother’. I am going to school, to the counsellor, to ask how do we navigate the situation? And it is not easy, being a parent is never easy,” he had said.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Karan Johar will host the 24th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, alongside Shah Rukh Khan.
The three-day awards gala, which will be held from September 27 to 29, will return to Yas Island Abu Dhabi, for the third time.
