Kangana Ranaut Hints Towards Quitting Bollywood As She Calls Industry “Fake”

Kangana Ranaut, who is busy campaigning for the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2024, has hinted towards quitting Bollywood after the result of the ongoing polls comes in. For the unversed, Kangana Ranaut is contesting Lok Sabha Elections on a BJP ticket from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. In an interview with Aaj Tak, Kangana Ranaut has admitted that she might make a switch to active politics as she sees the Hindi film industry as “fake”. When the ‘Queen’ actress was asked if she would quit Bollywood if she ends up winning the election from Mandi constituency, Kangana Ranaut said, “Yes.”
“The film world is a lie, everything there is fake. They create a very different environment. It is a glossy world like a fake bubble which is to attract the audience. This is the reality. I am a very passionate person,” she added.
Speaking further about the same, “I never wanted to do a job because I had to. Even in films I start writing, and when I get bored of playing a role, I direct or produce, so I have a very fertile mind and I want to be passionately engaged.”
For the unversed, Kangana Ranaut had made her Bollywood debut with ‘Gangster’, directed by Anurag Basu. The movie also starred Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja.
Over the years, Kangana Ranaut has starred in several memorable movies like ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, ‘Queen’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ and ‘Panga’.
The Indian actress will next be seen in ‘Emergency’, which has been directed by Kangana Ranaut herself. The movie, which was slated to release on June 14, 2024, has now been postponed.
‘Emergency’ is based on the 21-month period from 1975 to 1977 when former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency across India.
In the film, Kangana Ranaut will be playing the role of Indira Gandhi. ‘Emergency’ also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade and the late Satish Kaushik.
Kangana Ranaut's other projects include ‘Sita: The Incarnation’, ‘Noti Binodini’ and an untitled thriller with R Madhavan.
