Kangana Ranaut hinted at a possible career shift to give her “best years” of life to “something worthwhile”.

Kangana Ranaut, who has proved her acting mettle with movies like ‘Queen’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, ‘Fashion’, ‘Panga’ and ‘Gangster’, has been struggling to deliver a hit in the post-pandemic world. She was last seen in ‘Tejas’, which was released in theatres in October 2023. However, the 2023 Hindi movie performed poorly at the box office. Recently, Kangana Ranaut took to X (formerly Twitter) to hint at a possible career shift. In her tweets, the Bollywood actress criticised Ranbir Kapoor’s latest film ‘Animal’, though she didn't name the movie.

Taking to X, Kangana Ranaut said that viewers flock to theatres to watch “women beating films where they are treated like sex objects and asked to lick shoes”. She also said that it is “deeply discouraging” for her as she has been doing woman empowerment films.

Kangana Ranaut also hinted that she might change her career from films “to give best years” of her life to “something worthwhile”.

Check out Kangana Ranaut’s tweets below:

Asking about her “might shift career in coming years” statement, a person questioned if she is planning to enter politics.

Kangana Ranaut replied, “No no please don’t overthink I am venturing into restaurant business as well…. Politics is not a business it’s lokseva.”

Recently, Javed Akhtar too said that the success of a film where “a man asks a woman to lick his shoe” is “very dangerous”.

Javed Akhtar had said, “If there’s a film in which a man asks a woman to lick his shoe or if a man says it’s okay to slap a woman, and if the film is a super duper hit, then that’s very dangerous.”

The official X page of ‘Animal’ posted a tweet, slamming him saying that all his “art form is big false”, if a “writer of your calibre cannot understand the betrayal of a lover”.

For the unversed, in ‘Animal’, there is a scene where the film's lead character Rannvijay (Ranbir Kapoor), asked Zoya (Triptii Dimri) to lick his shoes to prove her love for him.

Coming back to Kangana Ranaut, ‘Tejas’ is her consecutive box office disaster. Baring her 2019 release ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, her films since ‘Katti Batti’ in 2015 have been box office duds.

Kangana Ranaut will next be seen in the 2024 Hindi movie ‘Emergency’. In the film, directed by Kangana Ranaut, she will play the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
