With Janhvi’s ‘Peddi’ and Varun’s ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ set to arrive in theatres just a day apart, the two actors have finally reacted to the much-talked-about clash – and their exchange is winning the internet for all the right reasons.

Janhvi Kapoor recently shared a glam transformation video on Instagram, and instead of keeping things strictly fashion-focused, she turned it into a cheeky box-office moment. She added ‘WOW’ song in background. For the unversed, this track is from Varun’s upcoming film.

The video began with Janhvi in an effortless white sleeveless camisole, her hair left loose in a natural, undone style. After a quick hand-cover transition, she switched into full diva mode, appearing in a strapless embellished silver-and-black top, styled with voluminous side-parted waves, statement earrings, smoky eyes, highlighted skin and neutral lips. The transformation had all the ingredients of a classic glam reel, but it was her caption that stole the show.
Tagging Varun Dhawan, Janhvi wrote, “Guess we’re clashing bitch @varundvn,” referring to the upcoming box-office face-off between their films. ‘Peddi’, co-starring Ram Charan, is scheduled to release in theatres on June 4, while Varun’s comedy entertainer ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ is slated to arrive a day later on June 5.
Varun, who has shared screen space with Janhvi in ‘Bawaal’ and ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’, responded in his usual playful style. Commenting on her post, he wrote, “Omg it’s never a clash with u only (heart emojis) and u are wow.” He also reshared the video on his Instagram Stories and added, “It’s only a clash of (heart emoji) with you @janhvikapoor u are looking wow in pedi. can’t wait to watch my friend.”
The exchange quickly caught everyone’s attention because, while trade circles may be discussing the clash, the two stars clearly have no bad blood. Instead, Janhvi and Varun turned the situation into a fun social media moment, reminding fans that box-office competition does not always have to translate into personal rivalry.
Interestingly, ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ has already seen multiple release-date changes. The film was initially set for June 5, but after Yash’s ‘Toxic’ announced its June 4 release, the makers reportedly shifted it to June 12. It was later moved to May 22 before finally returning to its original June 5 date.
Directed by David Dhawan, ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ stars Varun Dhawan alongside Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. The film also features Rakesh Bedi, Mouni Roy, Chunky Panday, Jimmy Shergill and Maniesh Paul in key roles.
On the other hand, ‘Peddi’ brings together Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead, with Shiva Rajkumar, Divyendu Sharma and Jagapathi Babu also playing pivotal roles. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film is set for a multi-language release in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
With Janhvi and Varun’s recent exchange, this June box-office battle has already found its most entertaining pre-release moment.
