Is Varun Dhawan Scared Of Clash With ‘Kantara Chapter 1’? His Reply
Varun Dhawan opened up about his film ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ clashing with ‘Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1’.

Bollywood star Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ is set for a high-voltage box-office clash with Rishab Shetty’s mythological prequel ‘Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1’. With both films releasing on October 2, fans have been speculating about the big face-off. Addressing this, Varun Dhawan opened up during an interactive #Varunsays session on X (formerly Twitter). When a fan directly asked him, “Kantara se darr nhi lagra?”, Varun gave a candid response.
He said, “Release date toh production wale set karte hain. Par hum buss apni film pe mehnant kar rahe hain aur logo ko Hassane ki koshish. I wish Oct 2nd everyone is laughing and smiling and celebrating.”

Varun Dhawan made it clear that rather than worrying about the clash, he is focused on delivering a romantic comedy that entertains audiences.
The Bollywood actor also reflected on the failure of his last release ‘Baby John’, co-starring Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi. A remake of the Tamil hit ‘Their’, the film told the story of a cop in hiding who raises his daughter in secrecy. Despite high expectations, it didn’t perform well.
A fan asked if it was his first flop, to which Varun admitted, “Hain yaar, nahi chali yaar. Sab ne bahut mehnat ki. Isilya SSKTK ki script totally nayi hain, hopefully aap sabko maza aayega Oct 2nd ko.”
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ features Janhvi Kapoor opposite Varun, along with Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Akshay Oberoi, and Maniesh Paul in key roles. The plot revolves around Varun and Janhvi’s characters who join forces to make their exes, played by Sanya and Rohit, jealous during wedding festivities.
This leads to a mix of drama, chaos, emotions, and humour. Produced by Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment, the movie is being described as a spiritual successor to the beloved ‘Dulhania’ films.
Meanwhile, Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1’ is a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster ‘Kantara’. The upcoming film will dive deeper into the folklore that captivated audiences in the original. Directed by Rishab himself, the project stars him in the lead role alongside Gulshan Devaiah, Rukmini Vasanth, and Jayaram.
The film is being mounted on a grand scale and will release in multiple languages – Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and English.
With both films targeting the same release date, October 2 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting box-office battles of the year.
