Team India made Wednesday memorable for the entire country as they won the semi-final against New Zealand in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The hosts, led by Rohit Sharma, defeated the Kiwis by 70 runs to book their place in the final, and this is the fourth time that India have managed to reach the final of the 50-over World Cup. First, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer scored centuries, and their batting performance was backed up by Mohammed Shami's seven-wicket haul.

The match, played at Wankhede Stadium, proved to be a star-studded affair as many celebrities from the film fraternity were in attendance.

Ranbir Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani and John Abraham were spotted enjoying the match together.

Virat Kohli scripted history on the all-important day as he played a knock of 117 runs off 113 balls. With this, Virat Kohli broke the record of Sachin Tendulkar and now has the most number of ODI centuries (50).

Talking about the match, batting first, Team India posted 397/4, owing to knocks of 117 and 105 by Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, respectively.

Mohammed Shami then decimated the New Zealanders by registering the best ODI figures by an Indian bowler, returning with figures of 7-57
Despite a gritty century from Daryl Mitchell, New Zealand could only manage 327, falling short by 70 runs.

Team India will now face the winner of the second semi-final between Australia vs South Africa in the final of the World Cup on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
