Govinda Rushed To Mumbai Hospital After Losing Consciousness At Home
Govinda was rushed to a Mumbai hospital after losing consciousness at home.
Bollywood actor Govinda was rushed to CritiCare Asia Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday after reportedly losing consciousness at his residence. The incident occurred late at night, just over a day after the actor had visited veteran actor Dharmendra, who recently got discharged from Breach Candy Hospital. According to reports, Govinda was admitted after he suddenly fainted and began feeling unwell.
His lawyer and close friend Lalit Bindal confirmed that the actor had been experiencing discomfort prior to hospitalisation. Lalit Bindal told Hindustan Times, “Kal din mein unko weakness thi, and then achanak se shaam ko disorientation laga tha for a few seconds. Unconscious hue the… Uske baad unke family doctor ne unko phone pe ek dawai batai which he took.”
Lalit Bindal further revealed that the actor was given medication after consulting a doctor over the phone but was eventually taken to the emergency ward at 1 am when his condition did not improve.
“Govinda took the medicine around 8:30-9:00 pm, and then went to rest in his room. Then, achanak se, he again felt uneasy, disoriented, weak and felt suffocated around 12 in the night. Following which, Govinda called me home. I reached his home at 12:15 and after the advice from his doctor, took him to the hospital. We took him to the emergency ward where his vitals were checked and he was admitted. He was admitted around 1 am,” Lalit added.
Lalit Bindal later assured his fans that Govinda has been shifted to a room from the emergency ward, and is doing better.
“Several tests have been done. Now, all his reports are awaited. He is under constant observation. Govinda is resting at the moment. There is no word on discharge yet as the doctors are waiting for the reports’ result to come and then will decide a further course of action. I spoke to Govinda in the morning, and he told me that he is feeling better,” Lalit said.
The actor’s hospitalisation came merely 24 hours after he was spotted outside Breach Candy Hospital, visiting Dharmendra, whose health condition had caused widespread concern in the film fraternity. In a video that circulated online, Govinda was seen leaving the hospital with a visibly tense expression.
This marks the second health-related incident involving the actor in just over a year. In October 2024, Govinda was hospitalised following a freak accident at his Mumbai home when his licensed revolver accidentally discharged, injuring his knee. The incident took place around 4:45 am as he was preparing to leave for Kolkata. According to the Mumbai Police, the revolver went off while he was putting it back in a cupboard.
Speaking to reporters after his recovery back then, the actor recalled, “I was about to leave for a show in Kolkata. It was about 5 in the morning. Aur uss time par vo giri aur chal padi. I was shocked by what happened and when I looked down, I saw a fountain of blood. Then I made a video, spoke to the doctor, and got admitted.”
Govinda was discharged a few days later and was accompanied by his wife Sunita Ahuja and daughter Tina Ahuja.
Known for his iconic comic timing and effortless dance moves, Govinda ruled Bollywood through the 1980s and 1990s with blockbusters like ‘Coolie No. 1’, ‘Hero No. 1’, ‘Raja Babu’, and ‘Partner’. His last big-screen appearance was in ‘Rangeela Raja’ (2019).
