In a development that could signal the end of one of Bollywood’s most talked-about professional rifts, actor Ranveer Singh has reportedly moved to settle his ongoing dispute with filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment. The tension, which stemmed from Ranveer Singh’s high-profile exit from the much-anticipated ‘Don 3’, appears to be heading towards an amicable resolution following reports of a significant financial and strategic offer from the actor.

The fallout became public knowledge earlier this year when news broke that Ranveer Singh had walked away from the third installment of the iconic ‘Don’ franchise. According to a Free Press Journal report, Ranveer Singh has now proposed to return his signing amount of approximately Rs 10 crore to Excel Entertainment. This move is seen as a gesture of goodwill to mend bridges with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, who were reportedly aggrieved by the timing and nature of the actor’s departure.

However, the reported resolution is not limited to a simple refund. To further compensate the production house for the substantial pre-production investments already made, Ranveer has reportedly offered Excel Entertainment a stake in his next major project, tentatively titled ‘Pralaay’. While the exact percentage of this stake remains undisclosed, the offer aims to mitigate the financial impact on the studio. Excel Entertainment had previously raised the issue with the Producers Guild of India, claiming that they had already spent nearly Rs 40 crore on pre-production activities – including script development and specialized scheduling – all of which were reportedly carried out with Ranveer Singh’s approval.

The root of the conflict reportedly lies in a shift in professional priorities. While Excel Entertainment was prepared to move forward with ‘Don 3’, industry insiders suggest that Ranveer Singh’s focus changed following the massive box office success of Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar’. The actor was reportedly keen on exploring collaborations with filmmakers such as Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee, and expressed a desire to avoid being seen in back-to-back gangster roles. Furthermore, reports indicated dissatisfaction regarding the absence of a fully bound script and concerns over the film’s overall creative direction.

The situation had reached a point where the Producers Guild of India was required to mediate. During these sessions, conflicting narratives emerged: the producers cited unprofessionalism after a long-term commitment, while Ranveer Singh’s camp suggested that the production house had effectively put ‘Don 3’ on the backburner during a period when the actor's career was seen as being in a slump.

Amidst the legal and professional wrangling, rumours also circulated that superstar Aamir Khan had stepped in as a mediator to facilitate peace talks. However, these claims were swiftly denied, with representatives clarifying that Aamir Khan had no hand in the dispute.

As of now, the future of ‘Don 3’ remains in a state of flux. With Ranveer Singh’s exit seemingly finalised through this proposed settlement, speculation is rife regarding who will now lead the franchise. Some reports even hint that Farhan Akhtar might consider stepping into the titular role himself to keep the project alive.

For now, neither Ranveer Singh nor Excel Entertainment has issued an official statement, leaving the industry to wait and see if this settlement truly marks the final chapter of the ‘Don 3’ dispute saga.
