The spirits are high and the vibes are sun-kissed as the musical journey for ‘Cocktail 2’ officially begins. The makers have finally dropped the first look from the film’s first track, titled ‘Jab Talak’ featuring the new lead trio: Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna. Set against the backdrop of a picturesque beach party, the song is already sending fans into a state of nostalgia, drawing inevitable comparisons to the 2012 original's chartbuster ‘Tum Hi Ho Bandhu’. ‘Jab Talak’ brings together the gold-standard team of Hindi film music: composer Pritam, lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya, and singer Arijit Singh.

Adding a fresh layer to the vocals is Akasa Singh, whose energy complements Arijit’s signature style. The track is a vibrant, upbeat number designed for the summer, capturing the carefree essence of modern friendships and romance.

While the digital release happened today, eagle-eyed fans may have caught an early glimpse of the song. In a unique marketing move, the first look of ‘Jab Talak’ music video was exclusively screened in theatres last month alongside the release of ‘Dhurandhar 2’, building significant anticipation before its official online debut.
Directed by Homi Adajania, who also helmed the first installment, ‘Cocktail 2’ is being positioned as a spiritual sequel. Rather than continuing the story of Gautam, Veronica, and Meera, this film explores fresh characters and modern relationship dynamics. However, the visual language of ‘Jab Talak’ – complete with stylish summer outfits, beachside fun, and hide-and-seek mischief – cleverly echoes the ‘Tum Hi Ho Bandhu’ energy that defined the original film twelve years ago.
Kriti Sanon, who recently shared her thoughts on the project, noted that the film feels incredibly relevant to today’s world. “When you watch Cocktail 1, it doesn't make you feel like it's 12 years old. This film is the same – it’s refreshing and has a take on modern equations,” she explained. Kriti Sanon also mentioned her desire to return to the “young, urban, fun space” of a romantic comedy after tackling more intense roles recently.
Despite the excitement, the film’s rollout hasn't been without a bit of digital drama. A social media post shared by Bipasha Basu recently caught the attention of the "Bollywood Reddit" community. The post suggested that Shahid Kapoor might be unhappy with the distribution of screen time, implying that Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna have more prominent roles in the narrative. While some fans debated the validity of the rumour, others pointed out that Shahid and Bipasha have a long history, having worked together in the 2005 film ‘Shikhar’. Whether the repost was intentional or an accident, it has certainly added an extra layer of buzz to the film’s release.
‘Cocktail 2’ has been produced by Maddock Films and written by Luv Ranjan, signalling a powerhouse collaboration of talent. The film was shot across diverse locations, including the scenic vistas of Sicily, alongside urban settings in Delhi and Gurugram. Director Homi Adajania confirmed the shoot wrap earlier this year with a heartfelt post, praising his “mad” cast for their dedication.
With Shahid and Kriti reuniting after their 2024 success ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Diya’, and Rashmika Mandanna joining the fold following her acclaimed performance in ‘The Girlfriend’, the chemistry is expected to be a major draw.
Fans won't have to wait much longer to see how this new cocktail tastes. ‘Cocktail 2’ is scheduled to hit theatres nationwide on June 19, 2026.
