Aneet Padda’s Sister Reet Deletes Insta Account After Backlash For Calling ‘Dhurandhar 2’ Propaganda
Aneet Padda’s sister Reet Padda faced severe backlash for calling Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar 2’ a “propaganda” film.
The Bollywood industry is no stranger to polarizing debates, but the latest firestorm has emerged from an unexpected quarter. Reet Padda, sister of ‘Saiyaara’ actress Aneet Padda, has found herself at the centre of a massive online controversy after publicly labelling the global blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ as a “propaganda” film. The intensity of the subsequent trolling and backlash has led Reet to deactivate both her Instagram and LinkedIn accounts. The controversy ignited when Reet responded to a social media comment, sparking a viral debate that quickly moved beyond the film's cinematic merits.

In a series of pointed remarks, Reet Padda characterized the Ranveer Singh starrer as a “government-friendly narrative,” specifically accusing the film of using political speeches to justify historical events like demonetization.
“Call it propaganda? Yep. Deny it? Not a chance,” she reportedly wrote. Her critique didn't stop there; she drew parallels between ‘Dhurandhar 2’ and other politically charged titles like ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘The Kerala Story’.

Reet accused these films of utilizing "creative math" to inflate numbers and push specific narratives against certain communities, stating that while she doesn't deny the existence of underlying problems, she believes these films push a skewed "ground reality." Reet Padda’s comments have since gone viral on social media.

Adding fuel to the fire, Reet Padda also took a sharp dig at global sensation Priyanka Chopra. She referenced a moment from the 2026 Oscars where Priyanka stood beside Javier Bardem as he called for an end to the “war” and said “Free Palestine”. Reet criticized Priyanka for her silence during the moment, remarking that the actress “can't even clap” despite having an international platform.
In a surprising turn, Reet even brought her sister, Aneet Padda, into the conversation. She stated that if Aneet were ever afforded such a prestigious platform and chose to stand there like a “dodo bird” instead of taking a stand, she would be the first person to call her out. Aneet, who is currently gearing up for her role in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe film ‘Shakti Shalini’, has not yet officially commented on the situation involving her sister.
Despite the heavy criticism from some sections, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ continues to be an unstoppable force at the box office. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy-action thriller has already grossed over Rs 1300 crore worldwide, recently smashing records previously held by ‘Baahubali 2’ in North America. The film, which follows Ranveer Singh as an undercover Indian agent infiltrating criminal syndicates in Karachi, features a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun.
While industry veterans like Anupam Kher and Piyush Mishra have dismissed the "propaganda" tag, labelling it a triumph of storytelling, the debate sparked by Reet Padda highlights the growing intersection of cinema and political discourse in India.
For now, Reet has retreated from the digital space entirely. After initially turning her account private to escape the influx of trolls, her profiles are now completely inaccessible. Whether this controversy will impact Aneet Padda’s upcoming release remains to be seen, but the "propaganda" debate surrounding Ranveer Singh’s latest hit shows no signs of slowing down.
