"Destroyer Of Originals": Amaal Mallik Launches Explosive Attack, Tears Into Tanishk Bagchi For Stealing Songs
Amaal Mallik launched an attack on fellow musician Tanishk Bagchi through a series of posts on X.
The ongoing debate over music royalties has taken a dramatic turn, with composer Amaal Mallik launching a blistering attack on fellow musician Tanishk Bagchi through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter). The latest exchange comes just days after Tanishk's now-deleted post about the royalties he received for 'Saiyaara' sparked controversy and reportedly led to friction with Yash Raj Films.
Without mentioning Tanishk by name, Amaal referred to him using phrases such as "Mr Remix" and "Destroyer of Originals" before accusing him of relying on paid publicity and maintaining his public image by resurfacing old photographs and presenting a false sense of camaraderie.

“If I speak up about how you bagged the film #Saiyaara, and stole the song right under Faheem Abdullah & Arsalan Nizami’s nose to make Mohit Suri take you in the film, then you will know. They will out of respect not support me, but if they have the guts to stand up, they should release #SaiyaanMere & the world will know who actually made the song and kisne aise hi credit khaya,” wrote Amaal.
Amaal then went on to accuse Tanishk of using personal heartbreaks to gain sympathy and opportunities. "Bhai break up mera bhi hua hai, woh dard dikhaake aur use karke picture mein ghusne ki bheek nahi maangta main bete," he wrote.
"Should I mention what you have done to female singers and their lives, Me too nahi, Me Three ho jaayega tujhpar. Should I tell the world how you gave me a swear and asked me to leave certain films and songs cause you had bills to pay," he added.
Amaal did not stop there as he made his opinion clear on the ongoing royalty debate, saying he had been urging composers to stand together against remakes for years. “Stop crying now like a little bitch about royalties when I had told you & many others to be united, kept calling you time and again trying to explain to you —— why the f**k you shouldn’t do #AashiqBanayaAapne & #Masakali," he wrote.
“@yrf is the clearest, most legal and easiest production house to work with and they won’t retaliate because of Mohit Suri’s intervention, the same man who got you to delete your petty post. You are composing for the next Yash Raj film but you have no gratitude for the money and effort spent by them to make your copied song Saiyaara a global anthem….Shame,” he added.
In one of his strongest allegations, Amaal claimed that Tanishk's compositions lacked originality, alleging that several of his tracks were inspired by or copied from Pakistani music, traditional folk melodies, other composers' work and even YouTube creators. He further alleged that the song ‘Saiyaara’ bore similarities to ‘Humnawa Mere’.
According to Amaal, singer Jubin Nautiyal chose not to address the issue because of his association with the same film and his long-standing professional relationship with Tanishk. The composer also brought the music label T-Series and its head, Bhushan Kumar, into the conversation. He alleged that while Tanishk privately criticised the label, he refrained from expressing those opinions publicly.
Amaal concluded his post with a stern warning, accusing Tanishk of damaging the music industry and taking a swipe at his reported remake versions of 'Sooraj Dooba Hai' and 'Kaun Tujhe'. He claimed to have heard the recreated tracks in 2021, criticised them, and then cautioned Tanishk against provoking him further.
The public outburst comes at a time when Amaal himself has been in the spotlight for 'Yeh Awarapan', the track from Emraan Hashmi's upcoming film 'Awarapan 2', sung by Arijit Singh. While the song has generated considerable buzz, the composer has recently alleged that coordinated paid PR campaigns have been targeting both him and the track on social media.
