Indian filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar, known for films like ‘Sultan’, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, ‘Bharat’, and ‘Bloody Daddy’, is gearing up for his next directorial venture ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’. The upcoming Hindi movie, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the lead roles, will be released theatrically on April 10. ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Sonakshi Sinha, Alaya F and Manushi Chhillar, will be clashing with Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film ‘Maidaan’. Ahead of the release of the two big Hindi movies, Ali Abbas Zafar opened up about their box office clash.

Ali Abbas Zafar, who has been actively promoting ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, spoke to Pinkvilla about the big box office clash.

The Indian filmmaker expressed his optimism about viewers accepting both movies with open arms. While urging the cinemagoers to watch both the upcoming films, Ali Abbas Zafar said, “I would request everyone to please go and watch Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan whenever you have time. It’s a long weekend. Two films can be released together. I feel we are two very different films and both films will offer the best to the audience so please go and watch it on this Eid.”

Ali Abbas Zafar further said, “We want people to come to theaters, enjoy and support us as a filmmaking fraternity because we are all together in this. There’s no clash, there’s no negativity among ourselves. Our respect for each other is phenomenal because we all know that we have put in a lot of hard work in making our films.”

In the same interview, Ali Abbas Zafar also praised ‘Maidaan’, saying, “Amit is a very good filmmaker and from the trailer Maidaan looks like it’s a beautiful story with a beautiful heart. Ajay sir is a tremendous talent. We wish them all the very best.”

Speaking about ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, the new Hindi movie is touted as an action thriller and it is being produced by Jackky Bhagnani, Vashu Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Himanshu Kishan Mehra.

‘Maidaan’, on the other hand, is a biographical sports drama based on the life of football legend Syed Abdul Rahim. The movie also stars Priyamani and Gajraj Rao in pivotal roles.

For the unversed, in 2023, viewers witnessed several big box office clashes. Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ clashed with Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’ in August 2023. Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ released on December 1, with Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sam Bahadur’ debuting in theatres on the same day.

The biggest box office clash took place when Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ went up against Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’ in December 2023.
