Abhishek Bachchan Joins Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh In ‘Housefull 5’
Abhishek Bachchan has joined the star cast of the upcoming Hindi movie ‘Housefull 5’, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
Abhishek Bachchan, son of veteran stars Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, made his Bollywood debut alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan in the 2000 Hindi movie ‘Refugee’. Over the years, Abhishek Bachchan showcased his versatility as an actor, featuring in a diverse range of films spanning various genres. His notable movies include the ‘Dhoom’ franchise, ‘Guru’, ‘Sarkar’, ‘Yuva’, ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, ‘Dostana, ‘Delhi 6’, and ‘Ghoomer’. At a recent Prime Video India event, Abhishek Bachchan announced that he will be starring in two new films – Remo D’Souza’s ‘Be Happy’ and an untitled movie with filmmaker Shoojit Sircar.
Now, Abhishek Bachchan has joined the star-studded cast of the upcoming Hindi movie ‘Housefull 5’, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
The upcoming movie, co-starring Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh, is scheduled to start filming in the UK from August 2024.
Sajid Nadiadwala expressed his happiness over Abhishek Bachchan joining the film’s cast, stating, “I am thrilled to bring back Abhishek to the Housefull franchise. His dedication, comic time, and sincerity will only elevate our film.”
Excited to return to the hit comedy franchise after being a part of its third instalment in 2016, Abhishek Bachchan said, “Housefull is one of my favourite comedy franchises and coming back feels like returning home. It's always been a great pleasure to work with Sajid Nadiadwala. I am looking forward to having mad fun on the sets with my fellow actors Akshay and Ritesh. I’m also so excited to collaborate again with my dear friend Tarun Mansukhani. I’m really looking forward to working with him again after Dostana. This is going to be a lot of fun.”
‘Housefull 5’, directed by Tarun Mansukhani of ‘Dostana’ fame, is slated to release in cinemas on June 6, 2025.
For the unversed, ‘Housefull’ movie series is the first-ever franchise in Indian cinema to have five installments. The movie franchise began with the first film in 2010 and successful installments were released in 2012, 2016, and 2019.
The first ‘Housefull’ film starred Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Akshay Kumar, and Riteish Deshmukh. The second installment's new faces included Asin Thottumkal, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shreyas Talpade, and John Abraham.
Then came the third part with new faces Abhishek Bachchan, Lisa Haydon, and Nargis Fakhri. The fourth one welcomed Bobby Deol, Kriti Sanon, and Pooja Hegde, among others.
Riteish Deshmukh and Akshay Kumar have been franchise regulars, while the other cast members and directors keep changing.
Coming back to Abhishek Bachchan, he was last seen in the 2023 sports drama, ‘Ghoomer’. The 2023 Hindi movie also starred Shabana Azmi, Saiyami Kher, and Angad Bedi in pivotal roles.
