It has been 20 years since the characters of Munna and Circuit played by Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi, respectively, left a lasting impression on our hearts. Feel old yet? 'Munna Bhai MBBS', which marked the directorial debut of Rajkumar Hirani, released in theatres, on this day, 20 years ago. In the latest entertainment news, Sanjay Dutt penned a heartfelt note, and he also said that he hopes the third installment of the franchise would be "made soon."

"Two decades of laughter, emotions, and a whole lot of jadoo ki jhappi! Celebrating 20 years of Munna Bhai MBBS, a journey filled with unforgettable moments," Sanjay Dutt wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"Grateful for the love and support that made this film a timeless classic. Hoping that Munna Bhai 3 will be made soon," he added.

For the unversed, 'Munna Bhai MBBS' released in 2003, and the Rajkumar Hirani-directorial debut was produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra under the production banner of Vinod Chopra Films. The film was the first installment of the 'Munna Bhai' film series before its sequel, 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai', which released in 2006. 

The Hindi film stars Sunil Dutt in his final film role as the father to his real-life son, Sanjay Dutt, who is playing the titular character of Munna Bhai, a gangster in the Mumbai underworld. Arshad Warsi is playing the role of his best friend while Gracy Singh is essaying the female lead. 

Boman Irani, Rohini Hattangadi and Jimmy Sheirgill also appear in the film. 

The second installment of the 'Munna Bhai' series, titled 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai' released in 2006. Apart from Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani, the film also stars Vidya Balan.

In this film, Sanjay Dutt's character begins to see the soul of Mahatma Gandhi, which is portrayed by Dilip Prabhavalkar.

Talking about Rajkumar Hirani, the director is awaiting the release of his sixth directorial project titled 'Dunki', which stars Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani.

Speaking of Sanjay Dutt, the actor was last seen in Vijay's 'Leo', directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
