AP Dhillon faced backlash over poor lip-syncing on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’.
Punjabi singer AP Dhillon recently made an appearance on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ alongside comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi. During the episode, AP Dhillon performed a short snippet of his popular track ‘With You’ at host Kapil Sharma’s request. However, what was meant to be a musical highlight quickly turned controversial online, with several viewers accusing the singer of lip-syncing. While the segment appeared to be a live performance, many Reddit users claimed otherwise and criticised AP Dhillon for allegedly not singing live on the show.

One comment read, “Kapil Sharma is unironically a better singer than him smh...” Others focused on Kapil’s expressions during the performance. “Lmfao, Kapil looking at him like ‘bro at least pretend to move your lips,’” wrote one user.
Another remarked, “Dhillon is staring straight into Kapil's soul while singing; couldn’t even lip-sync properly. Poor Kapil is horrified!”
The criticism continued with comments such as, “Kapil is a singer, probably sad seeing this sh*t,” and “McDonald’s of Punjabi music scene.” Another user questioned, “They don’t even know how to lip-sync?”
The episode also featured Sunil Grover, who added his trademark comic flair by parodying one of AP Dhillon’s songs. His humorous rendition received praise online, with one Reddit user saying, “Sunil Grover did better than him,” while another quipped, “Sunil rocked, AP shocked.”
Beyond the viral performance, AP Dhillon also opened up about his early struggles. He shared that when he first moved to Canada, he faced severe financial hardship. “The toughest moment for me was when I first landed in Canada. I had no place to stay,” he said.
Though his father had given him some money, he explained that he did not grow up privileged and did not even own a credit card at the time. When he tried to check into a hotel with cash, he was asked for a credit card. Unaware of the requirement, he was denied a room and ended up sleeping outside the hotel that night. He also recalled working at a gas station during those initial days to support himself.
‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ features Kapil Sharma as host, along with Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda as part of the ensemble cast. Navjot Singh Sidhu and Archana Puran Singh appear as permanent guests. The show is currently in its fourth season, and even before it wrapped up, Netflix announced that another season is in the pipeline.
Up next on the show will be Shahid Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, and Avinash Tiwary, who are set to promote their upcoming film ‘O Romeo’. The episode is scheduled to air on Valentine’s Day, February 14.
