Watch: Anubhav Sinha Snaps When Asked About ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’ Row
Anubhav Sinha snapped at a press event after a journalist asked him about the controversy surrounding ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’.
Anubhav Sinha's recently-released Netflix web series ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’ has been surrounded by controversy as a certain section of social media users believe that the makers have deliberately changed the identity of terrorists in the project. Recently, Anubhav Sinha, along with actors in the show, attended a press meet. And during this interaction, the director refused to answer when a reporter asked him about alleged distortion of facts in the new web series.
During the event, the host tried his best to interject, but the director was constantly asked to address this topic. When a reporter asked him about I&B Ministry summons, Anubhav Sinha responded, “Aapne series dekha hain? Series dekhiye. Baat nahi kar sakta aapse, aapne series nahi dekhi.”
The press conference came to an end after this response of Anubhav Sinha.

For the unversed, ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’ was released on Netflix on August 29. The show is facing flak for allegedly “whitewashing” the events that led to the hijack. Netflix India has also now updated the opening disclaimer of the new Hindi web series ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’.
“For the benefit of audiences unfamiliar with the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814, the opening disclaimer has been updated to include the real and code names of the hijackers. The code names in the series reflect those used during the actual event,” Monika Shergill, Vice President, Content, Netflix India, said in an official statement.
In the show, the makers have highlighted the names the terrorists used to address each other with in front of the passengers inside the flight. The terrorists in the show are named 'Chief', 'Doctor', 'Shankar', 'Bhola' and 'Burger'. For the unversed, in reality, the terrorists used these code names to address each other in reality, in front of the passengers.
'IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack' stars Vijay Varma, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapur, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Arvind Swamy, Dia Mirza, and Patralekhaa.
The show is based on the 1999 hijack of an Indian aircraft by five terrorists. The flight was hijacked 40 minutes after it took off from Kathmandu.
Five terrorists namely Ibrahim Athar, Sunny Ahmed Qazi, Zahoor Ibrahim, Shahid Akhter and Sayed Shakir had hijacked the IC-814 plane during its flight from Kathmandu to Delhi.
